13.5% Increase in Existing-Home Sales Predicted for 2024

During NAR's Real Estate Forecast Summit on December 12th, Chief Economist Lawrence Yun forecasted that 4.71 million existing homes will be sold in 2024. This is up 13.5% from 4.1 million anticipated in 2023.

Yun also foresees the 30-year fixed mortgage rate averaging 6.3% and 1.48 million housing starts in 2024, including 1.04 million single-family and 440,000 multifamily.
