Husted Announces TechCred Program
Exceeds 20,000 Credential Annual Goal
Manufacturing industry tops list of awarded credentials

Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted, who serves as Director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, today announced the results of the May round of TechCred, which will provide the opportunity for Ohioans to earn nearly 4,000 tech-focused credentials. This most recent round marks a TechCred milestone, as the program has officially reached and exceeded the goal outlined in the most recent state budget to fund 20,000 industry-recognized, tech-based credentials each year.

“With these results, we have exceeded our goal of funding 20,000 TechCred credentials each year, highlighting the continued need for more technically skilled workers, specifically in the manufacturing industry,” said Lt. Governor Husted. “Technology and technical job skills are becoming more important for Ohio’s economic future each and every day, and TechCred is a great way for businesses to keep their workforce competitive, while helping Ohioans upskill so they can earn more and grow in their careers.”.....

From Dream to Reality
Twenty years of service and dreams of owning a business became reality as K and R Cleaning Services celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Throughout the day, Chamber board members, elected officials and business leaders joined Kim Adams and Felicia Adams in celebrating their entrepreneurial venture at the opening of the 225 W. Emmitt Avenue location in Waverly. As part of the celebration, Chamber Executive Director Shirley Bandy welcomed the new ownership group and Commissioner Jeff Chattin thanked the Adams Family for their investment in Pike County.

Felicia Adams spoke on behalf of K and R Cleaning Services and shared their business story. She paid tribute to their staff and her business partner and mother-in-law Kim, “She has built this business from the ground up to where it is now. Through blood, sweat and tears she has turned her dreams into reality, and we couldn't be prouder. We look forward to serving Pike County for many more years to come!"

In recognition of the occasion, Chamber Tourism Director Chandler Grooms presented K and R Cleaning Services with a Certificate of Commendation from Secretary of State Frank LaRose, “on behalf of the people of the state of Ohio as a token of our gratitude and admiration for the impact you are making. I commend all those who collaborated on this endeavor for your hard work. Your commitment to excellence has earned you the respect and appreciation of your community.”

Ceremonial activities included Matt Lucas (Waverly Mayor’s office), Geoff Grimes (Atomic CU), Gary Cooper (SOCS), Kim Conley (YMCA), Maleine Davis (Brewster Real Estate), Bridget Barker (Chamber), Erica Jones (JobsOhio) and Adam Days (Pike CAC).

Free Community
Suicide Awareness/Prevention Training

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) received funding from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s (FAO) Cause Connector giving program to help support an important community training for suicide awareness and prevention called QPR: Question, Persuade, and Refer. Cause Connector is a charitable matchmaking site created to help more donors support local nonprofit projects in Appalachian Ohio. The AAA7 is hosting a virtual QPR training coming up on August 2.

Through the Suicide Prevention Foundation, AAA7 staff have been trained to provide the community educational program QPR: Question, Persuade, and Refer. Much like the well-known CPR, the fundamentals of QPR are easily learned and applied through a short training which can be done virtually or online. QPR, like CPR, functions as a “chain of survival”, allowing lay persons and professionals to respond to a life-threatening event; suicidal crisis. The training provides a booklet for each participant which becomes the resource to assist suicidal persons and is an instrumental part of the training. Teachers, coaches, local clergy, police officers, and any community individual can learn the QPR method to help recognize signs and clues of suicidal behavior, how to approach and communicate with a suicidal person, and where to refer them for assistance...

Root Cause Analysis
What is Root Cause Analysis?
We help you investigate the root causes of why defects are present within a manufacturing process or end product. Many manufacturing professionals only treat an issue's symptoms, or even its intermediate causes, without fixing the root problem - this inattention to the finer details results in recurring difficulties that could otherwise be easily solved.

Is Root Cause Analysis the right fit for your business?
Root Cause Analysis can streamlines operations and ensures your final products are high-quality every time. When you have issues within your manufacturing process, it's imperative to find and remedy those problems before they affect your company on a large scale.

Benefits of Root Cause Analysis
During the Root Cause Analysis, participants will develop an understanding of the concept and perspective to view work as products, instead of activities. Participants will have the opportunity to learn a new tool (product flow map) to improve their analytical and diagnostic skills. Manufactures will also meet and connect with the OSU MEP, which has vast resources including funding from NIST and the OHIO DoD, to help manufacturers grow and thrive.
