It is official! We have crowned the 2022 Lilac Queen!
I wanted to share a picture (also shared on our Facebook page) that perfectly captures our 2022 coronation on Saturday, March 26th. The photo taken by our Official Photographer, Monika Hawkinson of Hawkinson Photography, shows the moment Janna, from Mead High School, was announced as Lilac Queen. As one of the judges commented, she's reflecting "pure joy".
Now that Coronation is over, our focus swings to other projects in the works.
Our Float Toad crew is hard at work, building our 2022 float. They are in need of people to help in this endeavor! The Float Toads meet every Saturday morning at our temporary Float Barn. They are also holding Float Craft Days in the Lilac Office on Wednesdays. If you are interested, please reach out through the Volunteer link below or call our office for details.
Our Hosting committee is in the midst of planning the first Official Lilac Event for our 2022 Royal Court - the Royal Tea Parties! The parties take place on Sunday, April 24th at the Historic Davenport Hotel at 10am and 2pm. There are links to purchase tickets further down in this newsletter.
This Festival year will be a rebuilding year for us but it is turning out to be a great year so far. We look forward to seeing you all in May!

Coronation was held on Saturday, March 26th at Spokane First Church. Around 150 people joined us to cheer on all 7 members of the Royal Court as they presented their speeches to the judges.
Each of the girls received at least one scholarship each. Below is the names of the awards and who was selected to receive them.

Float building is in full swing and the Float Toads are needing help!
The temporary Float Barn is located at the South Pines Cemetery- 13126 E. 32nd Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99216. The Float Toads meet there every Saturday from 10am-4pm to work on the float. If you would like to help out, just show up or click the link below to fill out our Volunteer paperwork.
