SPRING INTO WATER WISE TIPS TO GET READY FOR SUMMER

Springtime is in full effect!

As the days get warmer and the sun stays out longer, there is typically an increase in water use between April and October.

EMWD would like to remind customers to stay water-wise as we get ready for the summer months ahead.

Outdoor watering is encouraged before the sun comes up and as the sun goes down, to maximize your water supply and avoid evaporation.

Remember, if you turned off your sprinklers for the winter months, be sure to test them and flush out the drip systems prior to running them again this spring.

HOW EMWD CONTINUES TO USE EVERY DROP TWICE

As an industry leader in recycled water, EMWD is proud to offer a cost-effective and sustainable water supply for its customers.

Why is recycled water so important?

Recycled water provides many benefits for EMWD customers: it is a future-proof water supply that is not subject to restrictions during periods of water supply shortages, and is priced lower than drinking water sources.

For many organizations—including agricultural customers—the benefits equate to a safe, sustainable, and cost-effective water supply.

Is recycled water safe?

Recycled water has been in use since the 1960s and is safe for irrigation and multi-use purposes as it is currently used at more than 80 schools, parks, and other recreational facilities within EMWD’s service area.

EMWD is constantly working on finding ways to maximize on its resources, using every water drop twice and using 100 percent of its water supply for beneficial reuse.

After all, the water we use today is the same water that has been around since the stone-age.
