Digest #382

I have some big news to share! This is my last weekly digest. After eight years of publishing SCTB on our website and sharing this email digest with you each Tuesday morning, it is time for a big change. I'm thrilled to announce that I'm stepping down from SCTB and starting my post-SCTB adventures.

Was this a hasty decision? Not at all! In fact, I started planning my exit from SCTB in late 2019, a few months before the pandemic hit. You can imagine the rest of the story. Due to the disruption of so many plans (especially travel plans), I continued publishing SCTB for another year. But now the timing is perfectly right for me to make this change.

It has been an extraordinary pleasure working with so many enthusiastic community leaders, company representatives, startup founders, educators, students, members of the local tech ecosystems, and generous partners and supporters. I have absolutely loved telling your stories, sharing news from the Monterey Bay tech ecosystem, and helping many of you find new jobs.

Wallace Baine tells the story of my announcement in Lookout Santa Cruz. Read the scoop here.

Abigail Kaun of Baskin Engineering writes about the beneficial impact of our collaboration over the years. Read the article here.

I'm especially grateful for moral support and enthusiasm over the years from Margaret Rosas, Bud Colligan, Chris Miller, Claire Schneeberger, Hilary Bryant, Sarah Vickers-Webb, Jan Janes, and Alex Feldman (my son). It certainly takes a village. Without their support and the generosity of many partners, I would not have continued to publish SCTB for this long.

If you want to scroll back through every article we've ever published, go here. And, if you want to scroll back through all of our 382 weekly digests, go here. I'm sure you'll agree, this is quite an archive of our local tech ecosystem history!

For the last time, scroll down and read the news.
