The Covid-19 Resilience Survey executed by Valley Vision was an important tool that helped us understand the needs of our community. The survey was created to capture the impact of upheaval in Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, Placer, Yuba, Sutter, Solano and San Joaquin counties caused by COVID-19: to see how lives have changed, to understand where there are opportunities for learning and growth, and to know where we as a region need to invest resources, time, and energy for recovery efforts for the people of our region.
Key takeaways from this survey included:
- People of color and younger adults are facing multiple sources of hardship
- Families with children in school remotely are stretched unsustainably
- Goodwill for social systems and infrastructure is diminishing
- Communities are politically divided
- Emotional resilience is fraying; mental health and well-being are increasingly at risk
Here’s a few more statistics from the survey that helped us temporarily reevaluate our mission so we could best serve our participants.
