Balance is so important. In our world today we are bombarded with images of death, destruction, corruption, and sadness. It’s easy to become cynical and lose our joy, unless we intently focus on the good that is all around us. For every minute of negativity, strive to balance it with at least one minute pondering what is “excellent and praiseworthy.”

Medical Equipment Arrives: Key Items to Bless 13 Facilities in Haiti

Despite the many challenges facing Haiti, we’ve been extremely fortunate with all our container shipments. Our latest container that left the US just a few short weeks ago, has already cleared customs and items are being delivered to partner facilities. This container contained items like oxygen concentrators, patient monitors, and infant warmers to support 13 different partner hospitals. We’d like to thank our amazing Haiti Health Network team that is led by Djail Covksy Aimable and Mario Saint Julien for a seamless unloading process. In addition, we’d like to thank Konbit Sante and their team for customs and partner support and Danita’s Children for partnering with us on the container shipment. We’re excited to see their new NICU open soon as a result of this shipment!



It’s always encouraging to hear from our partners on how the work is benefitting them. Dr. Eugene Maklin CEO and Executive Director of New Hope Hospital sent us this message of gratitude, "This is a note to thank Haiti Health Network team, especially Dalton Foundation for providing the medical equipment to New Hope Hospital, which is located in Plaine-Du-Nord, Haiti. No words are enough to express our gratitude and respect to you! It is such a blessing to be in partnership together!!! You help us make a huge difference in the Haitian people's lives!!! Hope we will keep working together for the wellbeing of the Haitian People!!! Much love!!! May God bless.”

It’s not all work. We also love to find opportunities to bless our team in fun and unique ways. On his last visit to the US, Haiti Health Network employee Djail Covksy mentioned how he would love to have a bike someday. Thanks to a generous donation, we were able to send him a bike on this container.

Addiction Recovery| Re-entry

Piecing Together Recovery and Reentry Resources Throughout the State

Collecting data and understanding all of the community assets the State of Ohio has for those struggling with substance use disorder and those reentering society after incarceration has been our priority and passionate pursuit for the past few years. With tens of thousands of resources in the relink.org database, we know we have captured most service providers doing incredible work in Ohio. Our team has been actively participating in community events around the state to create awareness of relink.org and teach people how to use the tool and register new providers. Now want to pivot our focus and see how we can bring these service providers together to form a strong community of practice for Recovery and Reentry providers. 

Our first event will be for recovery providers and will be held on August 25 at 2:00 PM. If you provide addiction recovery services in Ohio, be on the lookout for your personal invitation to this meeting or click here to register your organization today!


For the reentry community we are proud to be partnering with The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections to host both in person and online collaborative events to support the formation and sustainability of reentry coalitions throughout the state. Upcoming events are being planned for September and October. Stay tuned for more details.

Summer Overdose Surges

Unfortunately, we’re seeing an alarming trend this summer throughout Ohio. The number of overdose deaths is rising sharply. Contributing factors are likely the prevalence of fentanyl in substances besides opioids like cocaine and methamphetamine and the emergence of new substances called nitazenes that we know so little about. So far in July in Cuyahoga County alone there have been over 30 fatal overdoses. Creating awareness around prevention and promoting harm reduction resources are more important now more than ever. Fentanyl testing strips are free and available from The SOAR Initiative, and anyone can get free Narcan from Harm Reduction Ohio. In addition, relink.org lists additional prevention and harm reduction resources all over the state. Plan ahead and save a life. Search relink.org for resources in your area today.

Westside Healthcare Center - Gweru, Zimbabwe

Over the past year we’ve gotten to know a local Akron couple, both registered nurses, that moved here from Zimbabwe. They are passionate about giving back and supporting the rural community form their home in Zimbabwe. They reached out about purchasing equipment for a maternal – child project, for Westside Healthcare Center in Gweru, Zimbabwe. 


Diana and Onias work tirelessly to fund and organize shipments to the clinic with their church, Park United Methodist. It’s taken months of work, but the last shipment just arrived, and they were able to add on maternity services.

The additional equipment allowed them to pass Health Authority inspections and help so many moms and babies. It’s inspired all of us to see how hard they work, and we were blessed to help them maximize their budget, select appropriate equipment, and see this dream grow into a reality that is helping so many.
