Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week
April 12th - 16th is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness week in Wisconsin and on Thursday, April 15th, there will be a statewide tornado drill at 1:45 PM and 6:45 PM. Here at XMS, we will be conducting a modified tornado drill throughout the day on Thursday. Our goal is to remind/teach our students about what to do in the event of a tornado warning while the students are at XMS. We encourage families to have a similar conversation about what to do at home or other places in the event of a tornado warning. Please feel free to contact the office if you have any questions, comments, or other thoughts.

6th - 8th Grade Art Update:
Second semester 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ART has been a productive blessing during this unusual year:

  • Using personal sketchbooks, 6th grade art students learned portrait basics - and now we are able to use extra racks and embark on full sized oil pastel central imaginary person paintings.
  • Seventh grade completed line design compositions and spent several weeks learning art theory concepts. Currently they are learning about visual symbolism in preparation for a two project symbolism unit.
  • Eighth graders exceeded all expectations finishing one point perspective - sketchbook styled - with excellence. Currently they are working on a theater unit incorporating visual, story and even - time allowing - film communication skills. Lord willing a few will be ready to share sometime in May!
