DART Holiday Trains, Buses Running Through End of 2023

During the holiday season, Dallas Area Rapid Transit will channel its festive spirit with holiday events, trains and buses this year, according to a news release.


The holiday trains and buses are already making their way around North Texas and will continue doing so through the end of the year. Individuals interested in riding one of the holiday trains or buses can visit DART’s dedicated webpage.


Two holiday trains operated by DART will have cars covered with a festive wrap and illuminated with twinkling lights. The trains will make scheduled stops along designated lines during the evening of select weeks.

More Bus Stops Could be Added in Denton and Lewisville's Out-of-Service Stops Removed

This week, the Denton County Transportation Authority discussed adding bus stops in Denton and removing bus stops in Lewisville that are no longer in service.


Austin Frith, vice president of planning and development, told the DCTA board of directors about the agency’s three-year Connect bus stop study, which could potentially add 18 bus stops and relocate one stop in the city of Denton.


The study has been in the works since March. Frith said the study would shift into a plan and then be presented to the board around the spring of 2024.


In a phone call Friday morning, Frith said the study primarily focused on the three bus routes in Denton: Routes 3, 6 and 7.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit's Stuff a Bus Holiday Drive Accepting Donations

DART is collecting blankets, adult socks, canned food and toys until Dec. 11.


The Stuff A Bus program will deliver blankets and socks to the Senior Source—a foundation that provides assistance to older adults in Dallas and Collin counties. The new and unwrapped toys and canned food will be delivered to North Texas families in need.


Until Dec. 11, donations can be made in person at the DARTmart at 1401 Pacific Ave., Dallas, or through DART’s Amazon wish list. Donations can also be made at the SMU/Mockingbird DART station Dec. 8 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
