Coastal Storm Damage Reduction &

Beach Replenishment Project Update

The highly anticipated and long-awaited sand replenishment project is nearing its exciting completion. The contractors have placed close to 600,000 cubic yards of sand on the beach to date, with only 100,000 cubic yards more to go. The City would like to thank everyone involved in assisting to make this 20+ year project come to fruition, but especially the community for their patience during the active dredging portion over the past month and a half.

The project is expected to be completed by March 10th, with the contractor currently at the south end of the beach. The Del Mar Shores beach access stairs will be closing in the next couple of days to allow for the completion of the project, however, the Seascape Sur beach access stairs will be re-opened at the same time. We again wish to thank the community for their support and patience throughout this project, and hope everyone enjoys the more than 700,000 cubic yards of high-quality sand placed for the recreational enjoyment of all!

Electric Landscape Equipment Funding Available

For Professional Landscapers

Calling All Professional Landscapers! The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District established the Electric Landscape Equipment Assistance Fund (E-LEAF) to assist professional landscapers to transition to cordless, zero-emission electric equipment. Leaf blowers, and various other lawn and garden equipment, are classified as small off-road engines and contribute significantly to emissions. Operating a commercial leaf blower for just one hour equates to driving a new light-duty passenger car for approximately 1100 miles! Due to this environmental concern, the City banned two-stroke gas-powered leaf blowers back in 2011. Apply for reimbursement and learn more about the program to support a cleaner environment.
