Shalom Safranim and Friends!

Here is your weekly conference update to keep you informed about the upcoming Association of Jewish Libraries conference, June 27–29, 2022, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In each update, we will highlight information to help you make your conference plans.

Register by April 29 for early bird pricing!

The Preliminary Program is Now Available!

The 2022 AJL Conference will feature over twenty-five sessions by more than fifty presenters! Click here to view the preliminary program. Please check the conference website frequently to view new sessions or other changes to the program. Abstracts for each session and presenter bios will be available soon in Webex Events (formerly Socio), our conference app.

The 2022 conference will be completely in person. All presentations will be live, and the sessions will not be streamed or recorded. Written proceedings will be available after the conference, but we encourage you to come to Philadelphia to experience all that AJL has to offer. In recognition of the access that online conferences can provide, the AJL board and council recently decided to alternate in-person and virtual conferences: the 2023 AJL conference will therefore be fully online (similar to 2020 and 2021).

AJL 2022: Together Again! will provide a wide range of sessions for library professionals working in academic and research institutions, archives, synagogues, day schools, and Jewish community centers, as well as public schools and public libraries serving Jewish communities. Our diverse group of expert presenters are librarians, authors, educators, and scholars from across North America, Israel, and Europe.

Topics include

  • Jewish Books on the Move
  • Documenting History Through Collections
  • LGBTQIA+ Representation in Jewish Children's Literature
  • Cataloging and Metadata: Books, Manuscripts, and Digital Projects
  • Patterns & Trends in Holocaust Youth Literature
  • Digital Infrastructures for Archival Collections

and many more, including presentations about archives, collection development, and award-winning children's and adult literature. Plus plenty of opportunities to network, brainstorm, collaborate, and connect with a vibrant and diverse community of library professionals, volunteers, archivists, educators, authors, scholars, and vendors.

When making your travel plans, be sure to plan on arriving in Philadelphia by Monday morning, June 27, and staying through Wednesday evening, June 29. Stay tuned for more details about the Wednesday afternoon tours.
