Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Staff,
Happy Valentine’s Day. K-5 Classrooms are buzzing with activity and snack included a special treat. Upper School students will also enjoy a special treat during their lunch period today. Warmer days are ahead which will open up the opportunity for outdoor playtime and recess.  Boots are a helpful addition to outerwear right now not just due to the temperature but to the wet conditions on the grounds.

The K-2 cluster is enjoying a Kindness Spirit Week with fun themes each day through Friday including highlighting “Team Kindness, Powered by Kindness, We Dream of Kindness and Rondout Chooses Kind” More information is coming home today for K-2 families.   The rest of the students also worked on building “Cubes of Kindness” which are on display

Rondout is in the process of planning for the transition adjust COVID mitigations including masking. The Appellate court decision regarding the status of the temporary restraining order is expected by February 17th which will provide us with additional guidance regarding the timeline for implementation.  The Board of Education will be discussing the transition at its regular monthly meeting tomorrow evening starting at 7 p.m. which will be held in the South gym.

This meeting will follow a Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting which begins at 6:15 p.m. and end by 7 p.m. which is also open to the community. The focus of that committee meeting is on the HVAC project. The agendas for both meetings are posted on the website for your review.

The district welcomes your input as we plan for the transition. Guidelines for public comment can be found on our webpage at the following link https://5il.co/15muo

Your patience and cooperation are appreciated as we plan for a smooth and thoughtful transition to the next stage in our journey in living with COVID19. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.

Take care…Be Safe…Until next time…

Notes from Our Principal
Ms. Elizabeth Davis
Dear Families and Staff,

We have been busy here at Rondout! The warmer weather has lifted everyone’s spirits. Hopefully, we are on the path to spring. Our 3-5 Basketball Clinic kicked off this week. Thank you to Mr. Williams for organizing and running this wonderful opportunity for students. We can’t wait to see how their skills improve! Seventh grade students presented their Abraham Lincoln projects to third graders last week. It was impressive to see their visual aids and watch the interactions between the grades. Our upper school students created Cubes of Kindness, which are brightening up our halls. Primary students got ready for Valentine’s Day with writing and art projects. I know that everyone is looking forward to more sunny days and warmer weather. Thank you all for your partnership.

Have a wonderful week,
Elizabeth Davis
