A Word From Our Founder:
Happy April to you all, it’s beginning to feel like spring! As you all know by now, there is a lot going on. Our new north Academy is ALMOST ready for opening. We will hit our April 18th target date for opening and we want to invite all of you to our Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on
Friday, April 22nd.

Along with all the painting, lighting, carpet, pianos, etc., we are also currently hiring new staff and teachers and are excited to introduce you to them very soon. There is still so much to do. Next week John and I will be gone for several days to Memphis Tennessee, for the annual Music School conference that we have attended now for I think the seventh time. While it seems odd to leave right in the middle of all this “madness” we will come home with tons of great ideas and inspiration. We always have a great trip!
This is an exciting time for all of us (and that includes YOU), here at Fresno Music Academy & Arts! I have been dreaming of a second location for many years and now it is actually happening! To bring love and music to another part of our wonderful community…well it just doesn’t get any better than that! ...

My favorite movie of all time is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It is filled with “magic” and hope. To quote Willy Wonka, played by the brilliant Gene Wilder-
“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams”
This dream is coming true!

Pennies For Polio
Thank You for Your Pennies!
We have been collecting pennies in the front office for a great cause! Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years, and our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever!
As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiate, we've reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.
ALL THE MONEY that was brought in during the last few weeks will go towards this cause!
To learn more about Rotary, click this link:
Rotary is involved in all kinds of “nonpolitical” projects locally and internationally. One of them is their mission to End Polio globally -for good!
Again, THANK YOU to all who donated!

Sue Beevers Memorial Scholarships
"Sue Lyon Beevers was a popular, multi-talented woman who helped found Fresno Folklore Society.
Sue was a driving force behind Fresno Folklore Society and was active in fostering Traditional Music in the Greater Fresno area until her passing from brain cancer in 2014. Her good friend, Sherron Brown, led the effort to remember Sue by creating a memorial fund to support children and teens who wished to pursue traditional folk music forms and to share their musical gifts in their own communities.

All recipients of the scholarship are invited to perform and be a part of this annual Sue Beevers Memorial Concert held in the summer months.

🎶 Music Facts 🎶
According to The University of Montreal, babies tend to be twice as calm and receptive when listening to music than they do when you're talking.
A researcher from the Texas A&M College of Nursing found that babies who were born prematurely experienced health benefits from listening to lullabies, as their food intake increased and they felt more comfortable.
Researchers from Sussex University and the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig found that music could be used to help a patient's recovery, especially if they have been isolated in a hospital.
