In case your children haven't mentioned it yet, we only have eight school days left before the winter break! (The teachers might be counting down as well.) As we roll into the holiday season, please remember that attendance is as important as ever. We certainly understand that students get sick and need to stay home when they aren't well. However, students do need to be in school in order to learn, so regular attendance is imperative. When you leave for vacation early, students miss out on valuable learning time.
Student absences also hurt the school as a whole because our sole source of funding from the state is based on our average daily attendance. We typically run about 96% attendance which means that we lose between $1500-$2000 in funding each school day. Over the course of the year, this adds up to more than $200,000 of lost revenue. In a time when inflation continues to affect our operational expenses and the state has not approved any increased funding, this is a huge loss for Trivium. Please make every effort to be in school.
We had some firsts for Trivium last week and today. Some of our elementary and middle school students traveled to Slidell (thanks, parents, for getting them there) to compete in the UIL A+ Academic Meet, and our pom squad placed third in the NCA Cheerleading competition today. We are so proud of how well our Knights are representing Trivium in the state!
There are some dress-up days ahead for our students as we finish out the semester:
Mon, 12/18 - plaid/flannel shirt
Tues, 12/19 - Hawaiian shirt
Wed, 12/20 - flannel pajama pants and/or crazy socks
Thurs, 12/21 - holiday cardigan/sweater
Proud to be a Knight,
Sheryl Bradley
Principal/Superintendent
