Let's Celebrate!

At Bridge Boston Charter School, our students are resilient and joyful – that’s why they’re a part of our Jaguar values. Bridge is committed to uplifting our scholars with realistic and high-achieving goals.

Let's Celebrate: Growth

Bridge Boston is so proud to celebrate our students' academic growth! Our scholars completed their Middle-of-Year reading & math iReady assessments when they returned from break. iReady calculates every student’s average typical growth based on their scores from the beginning of the year. We know that to be on track, in the middle of the year, students should be at 50% growth.

On January 31st, Bridge celebrated scholars with 50% or more growth in one or both subjects! All students joined us for an awards ceremony, where our Growth Experts were recognized, followed by a Growth Party for just the Experts. Our scholars had so much fun!

One of our eighth graders, Chantal Soto (right), achieved 392% growth in math and 206% growth in ELA. After beginning the year at a fifth grade level, Chantal’s now looking forward to high school. She described that the pressure of high school is motivation to "get what she deserves,"meaning achieving As by working hard. When asked about her advice to other students, Chantal said,“Don’t guess. Don’t rush. Don’t be scared by the pressure. Do you. Be yourself.”We’re so proud of students like Chantal who work hard and become role models for her peers. In her words,“I’m intelligent and great.”

Growth for our students is so important. We want students to be able to speak to their own data and their progress towards their goals. At Bridge, we want our students to have ownership of their learning and achievements and to always be striving for academic excellence!

100 Days Smarter

January 31st was BBCS's 100th Day of School!! We celebrated with a scavenger hunt: 100 Jaguars were hidden EVERYWHERE and we worked together as a school to spot them all. The 100th Day of School is important because numeracy is vital to math education, and of course, we love to celebrate our student's incredible milestones. Many of our students even dressed up as if they were “100 Years Old” – that’s Jaguar Joy!

Let's Celebrate: Music

Starting in first grade, every Bridge Boston student engages in our instrumental music program. At Bridge, we believe every child has the potential to become a literate and artistic musician.

Each year Bridge hosts 2 whole-school concerts widely attended by family, staff, and members of our community. We additionally hold respective concerts for the older and younger students, with extra opportunities to perform such as holidays and assemblies. In December, our very own 8th Graders serenaded everyone in our school library. Our next concert will be held at the Strand Theater on April 29th.

At Bridge, we know performing live music assists our students in building perseverance, empathy, curiosity, and self-confidence. Our music education program not only teaches our students to play, listen to, and appreciate music; they also learn how to persevere through challenges, to hold themselves to high standards, and to achieve in ways they may not have expected through performing live.Every time a student creates something beautiful or says, “I can’t believe I did that!” we believe we should celebrate! Our students show us every day that they are smart, creative, and resilient.

Check out the message below from Principal Walker, and video from our Social Media Club about why attendance is so important!

Dear BBCS Parents/Guardians,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your ongoing efforts to support your child/ren at home. As a school community, one of our primary goals is to ensure that our students are consistently present and engaged in their learning. We understand that attendance has been an ongoing challenge for schools across the country during the pandemic, and we are determined to increase our daily attendance rates to at least 95% or higher. We need your assistance in achieving this target.

In partnership,

Ms. Cherose Walker

Principal

Currently at School

Our Student Government is leading the school celebrations of Black History Month! All month long, student representatives have been sharing facts about historical figures on the morning announcements. We've also had featured student & staff pop into classrooms for read-alouds.

In addition to announcements and reading, our incredible kitchen staff are serving up a Black History Month inspired menu all month long!
