Registration Kits on the Way
County clerks should be on the lookout for a special package from ACCG this week loaded with registration kits for the upcoming ACCG Annual Conference. A team of ACCG Operations and Leadership Development staff prepared the materials that were shipped out to 140 counties on Thursday afternoon. We can't wait to see you in Savannah!
Macon-Bibb County GCAPS Students Visit the State Capitol
Students participating in the Macon-Bibb County Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students (GCAPS) recently visited the State Capitol for a tour and meetings with state leaders. The GCAPS program is designed to give students a first-hand look at the roles and responsibilities of government so that they may become more informed and engaged citizens.
Celebrating County Public Safety Telecommunicators
Thank you to the dedicated county employees work in public safety telecommunications, such as 911 centers, across the state! April 10 - 16 is designated as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and counties have recognized the important role of these employees during commission meetings (like this one in Cobb County) and social media outreach.
County Government Month Feature: Union County
In celebration of County Government Month, the Union County Commissioner's office is holding tours of the Union County Courthouse as well as sponsoring a coloring contest for primary and elementry age kids. The coloring page features the iconic historic courthosue located in downtown Blairsville. The historic courthouse was built in 1899 and continues to serve as the hub of downtown commerce and related activities.
Liberty County and City of Hinesville Break Ground on Southside Park
Local leaders from the Liberty County Board of Commissioners and the City of Hinesville recently broke ground on Southside Park. The new park, made possible by a 4-acre land donation by Mr. Paul Krebs, will feature a 1/3-mile walking trail, open greenspace, two playgrounds, a skate park, a dog park and more. County and City SPLOST VI funds will be used to fund the construction of the park.
