Congratulating our graduates
Faculties across Queen's are recognizing and celebrating their graduates and in Arts and Science we will also be recognizing the graduating class of 2021 with congratulations and celebratory messages from across the faculty posted to, and linked from, our website as of noon on Thursday, June 10. The timing is part of the sequencing of faculty acknowledgements, recognitions, or celebrations across the university, and is also connected to the posting of the full list of FAS graduates on the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) webpage, scheduled to be completed sometime on Thursday, June 10. A link will be provided to the list from our website as soon as it is published.
We would like to include your messages too. On Thursday, June 10 when our Class of 2021 Recognition page is posted we encourage you to send your congratulations to your students or to post a photo on our Class of 2021 Congrats page. We will send the link to you via email on Thursday, June 10 as the FAS web page goes live.

Academic consideration updates
The Academic Consideration team has created Resource Guides to support students in submitting requests through the Academic Consideration Request Portal. These guides are divided by request type and include step-by-step instructions with screenshots. Instructors may want to add a link to these guides in their syllabi and/or OnQ module, as appropriate. If students still have questions once reviewing these guides, please direct them to our team at [email protected].
Please note that our office hours will also be changing as of Tuesday, June 1 to:

Healthy Communities
We are pleased to announce the creation of our Healthy Communities webpage, QUartsci.com/healthy-communities, which provides information on the varied opportunities and array of options in support of the physical and mental health and social wellbeing of our staff and faculty, from educational events to resources and opportunities to connect.
In addition to resources, Healthy Communities events and initiatives specifically for FAS staff and faculty are listed on this page, including the recording of the first Healthy Communities webinar last month, Building Empathy from the Inside-Out, featuring current Queen's graduate student, alumnus, and past University Rector Mike Young. The page also includes registration details for upcoming events, the next of which is our Stress Reduction Toolkit webinar on Thursday, June 24, at 9:00 am. Explore the newest research and what experts are saying about good and bad stress. Participants will gain the tools to manage stress, including mindful communication.
While we will continue to promote upcoming events and new resources in our eNews, we encourage you to check out QUartsci.com/healthy-communities to learn more about the upcoming events, activities, and resources available to support your physical and mental health and social wellbeing.

Join 17 Rooms at Queen's
The 17 Rooms event at Queen's is a fast-paced, brainstorming workshop and approach to generating awareness of and action on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is designed to bring together people interested in making a difference into 17 small groups, each tasked with generating ideas and knowledge to make progress towards a particular SDG. For Queen's first 17 Rooms event will be hosted virtually through Zoom with staff, faculty and students joining together to create ideas and discuss how to advance the SDGs at Queen's.
The goal is to generate excitement and awareness of the SDGs, increase collaboration and ultimately find new ways to make a global impact across the university. It's exciting, energizing and will help create synergy in our explorations of the SDGs at Queen's.
Registration is open and we still have space for participants. The event's success depends on participation from a diverse group of staff, faculty and students who can lend their knowledge and expertise to one of the 17 Rooms in the half-day scheduled for Monday, June 21.
Registration deadline is Thursday, June 10.

Globalink Research Internship program
The Globalink Research Internship program offers an opportunity to recruit international undergraduates with funding from Mitacs. The program is competitive with about 10 to 20 percent of projects selected for the funding. Queen's typically hosts 15 students each summer.
To host a student in 2022 program please craft a project proposal that will attract the attention of interested international students who then can apply to work on specific projects. Proposals are due Wednesday, June 9. For more information and to apply, visit the Mitacs website.
