ISSUE NO. 255 / June 2, 2021

Sunapee Happenings
Signs of the times. June is busting out all over! All over the harbor and the hills. Springtime is looking promising since last weekend’s persistent cold rain has subsided. Compared to this time a year ago, we’ve come a long way.  The pandemic tide is ebbing and there is an air of optimism which transcends the usual... even in this season of light and warmth.

Summer camps are preparing for camper kids... local Recreation Departments have great new schedules... there will be music on community bandstands.... Movies Under the Stars in Sunapee Harbor... Farmers markets are bursting with goodies... and we have it on good authority... “The Boat” is on the road again and will be arriving very soon!

July 22 | Progressive Dinner
This year's Progressive Dinner, held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, is a bit different than in past years. Instead of being "members only," our "Taste of the Region: Progressive Dinner @ Home" is offered to anyone who would like to support Ausbon Sargent, and the five farms and businesses in our region collaborating with us. Unlike the usual Progressive Dinner, where the hosts donate the cost of the food, Ausbon Sargent is purchasing the food from these farms and businesses. Each ticket is $100.00 and the cost of the food, per person, is roughly $30.00. The ticket price assumes this cost and provides a $70.00 donation to the land trust, which is tax-deductible. Any donation above $100.00 will help defray the costs of the food and will go to further support the good work being done at Ausbon Sargent.
July 22 | Concert on The Veranda
Concert on The Veranda with Opera North: Sun., July 22, 5:00pm

Opera North artists with director Evans Haile perform Gershwin and select songs from Opera North's current season. Wonderful music, hearty hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. $40 per person. Reserve online or call 603-763-4789 ext. 3.

Two quotes come to mind as we reflect on this past Memorial Day of remembrance...

“ In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Martin Luther King

“ Heroism doesn’t always happen in a burst of glory.  Sometimes small triumphs and large hearts change the course of history.” Mary Roach

May we always be brave enough to remain the land of the free.
