Immerse Poets Week 5
This Sunday Pastor Polly is looking at a poem written by David, Psalm 96. It's a wonderful note of celebration praising the LORD for His goodness. But let's dig a little deeper. Why did David write it? When did David write it? Let's remind ourselves a little more about the author with this history video about David's kingship. Click the picture below, we promise it's worth watching.

Adopt -a- Camper
This year we have 18 students heading up to Covenant Pines Bible Camp. That's the highest attendance in 5 years. We are again looking for members to adopt a camper. You will send an encouraging note or email to a student while at camp. This is great way to live out our value of multi-generational community. The list of campers will be available at church the next two weeks. Contact Polly or Angie with questions. Info sheet on how to contact a camper is here.
Hospitality & Friendship ➠ Community Caring Commission
As Crosstown continues to have conversations about "adaptive leadership" and needed refocusing, the Hospitality & Friendship Commission has been working on that for the last 6 months. This work has led to a rebranding of the commission to Community Caring with a focus on prioritizing our "compassion for people" both within our church community and in our local neighborhood. This is a commission of service. If you are interested in learning more about being the hands and feet of Jesus, join our commission meeting Sunday, May 16th at 10:30 in the Heritage Room. No commitment required, or you can contact Michelle Larson shellarson@earthlink.net
GriefShare Concludes
In 2013 Iris Smyth opened a chapter of GriefShare at Crosstown. This was a support group open to anyone in any stage of grief. The group followed the national GriefShare curriculum. Most years Crosstown hosted three 13-week sessions with various volunteers from the congregation leading. We celebrate the six years of this ministry. Thank you to all those that led with vulnerability to help others through their grief.
A heartfelt thank you to the 15 men, women, and young people from Crosstown who came to the church to work on Saturday, May 1st. Also, thanks to the large group from Verbo and the Crosstown people who worked on other days.
  • 75 bags of wood chips were spread
  • 38 bags were filled with leaves, twigs, weeds, etc.
And the church grounds are ready for spring and summer. Not everything got done, but a major portion of the cleanup was completed thanks to the men, women and children who came to work Saturday and those who committed to come on different days.

I especially loved having all the children there, and I and others made some new friends.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! -Marcia Wilkins

Covid update
You may notice some changes in the event request form. Leaders are no longer required to have training to use the building and more rooms are available for use. The kitchens remain closed so prepackaged food is still required. Throughout the building people are still required to wear masks and socially distance. But most exciting is that we no longer need to use cleaning table flip cards!
