GPLHS Monthly Update
March 2021
Prayer for Great Plains Lutheran High School
Heavenly Father, as we enjoy special opportunities this Lenten season to sit at your feet and contemplate your Son’s passion, we thank you for all schools, such as Great Plains Lutheran High School, where students daily have the opportunity to hear your word and grow in your grace. Bless all those who faithfully serve in our schools. May the knowledge that you have overcome sin and death through Christ Jesus uplift us, empower us, and move us to do all things to your glory as we look forward to the gracious reward of heaven.

Board of Directors Update- Call Accepted
Our Board of Directors met on January 9. In addition to a general review of activities and plans for this school year and next year, a key portion of the meeting was devoted to calling a Director of Mission Advancement. This call has been extended to Mr. Jeff Roloff. Jeff served in the Dakota-Montana District for 18 years, nine of them as instructor and athletic director at GPL. Jeff and his wife Sarah currently teach at St. Jacobi Lutheran School in Greenfield, WI. We are happy to share that Mr. Roloff has accepted this call.
Wish List Item- Safety Cabinet
It is time to update and enhance the safety features of our science equipment storage. The science classroom is in need of this safety cabinet to store flammable science experiment supplies. Gifts totaling $660 will cover the cost of this item. You can contribute by clicking HERE and designating your gift to "Wish List - Science Safety Cabinet" or by calling the office and talking with Mrs. Hesford, our new business manager.
2021-2022 School Registration
It's time to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year! The new student application and returning student registration sites are ready for you. Information can be found at www.gplhs.org under Our School>Admissions. Please contact the GPLHS office if you have questions or need assistance.
Honor Society Panther Basketball Tournament
We are looking forward to our GPL Basketball Tournament coming up on March 5-6. This year we will have separate competitive divisions for girls and boys and a co-ed recreational division. This event gives our GPL Honor Society members the opportunity to serve in various capacities and prospective students to experience a weekend at GPL.
Spring Concert
Join us Sunday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. for the GPL Spring Concert. GPL music students, both instrumental and vocal, will perform in the GPLHS gymnasium. If you are not able to join us in person you can watch online. Click here for Livestream
Winter Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony for our winter activities students and families will be held on Sunday, March 14 immediately following the Spring Concert. Participants in girls and boys basketball, cheerleading and the One Act play will be recognized. There will not be a meal served that evening.
GSI Thrift Annual Meeting
GSI Thrift will hold its annual meeting at GPLHS on Sunday, March 14 at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will include the approval of disbursement recommendations, the election of board members and reports from the GSI board president and store manager. Over the years GPLHS and its students have been greatly blessed through the efforts of GSI, its staff, donors and volunteers. Individuals interested in this work are invited and encouraged to attend.
GPLHS Summer Camps
Because of COVID, there are a couple of issues to consider surrounding GPL summer camps. The state of Minnesota is not opening up their group spaces in state parks. Since Camp Luther is held in a MN state park, it is cancelled for this year.

Concerning Panther Camp, our GPL Administration is evaluating the safety of hosting this camp on campus in respect to what that would look like this year. It is our hope to conduct Panther Camp, but it may look different than it has in the past.

As soon as more detailed information is available, it will be shared. Stay tuned. Tentative Panther Camp dates: Jun 9-12.
Booster Meeting
The Panther Booster Club will meet on Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. All families are welcome to come to the meeting as we take a look at the blessings from this year’s concession seasons and consider how these gifts can be best put to use at GPLHS for our students and programs.
GPLHS/St. Martin's Joint Concert
On Thursday, March 25th at 5PM Great Plains Lutheran and St Martin's Lutheran bands will host a combined concert in the GPL gym. This concert is taking the place of the annual ECC Band Concert which was cancelled.
Anniversary Celebration Postponed
With the ultimate goal of celebrating the ministry of GPLHS to God’s glory with all who would like to attend, the GPL25 committee has decided that our 25th anniversary celebration weekend on campus with food, music, memories and fun will be postponed until the summer of 2022... READ MORE
The UiP Expansion Project has Expanded!
Thank God for the opportunities and resources he provides!
At the end of January the GPLHS delegates approved a recommendation to move forward with construction of the auxiliary gym portion of our facility expansion plan as a special gift has provided the finances needed to complete this part of the plan. Construction will begin in the spring.

Thank you to all who offered insights and input as we came to this decision. Please pray that God will bless us as we carry it out and give us wisdom as we continue to pursue all of the facilities and programs that enable us to provide quality Christian education for many years to come.
Why GPLHS?
Do you ever wonder what it’s like to send a child to Great Plains Lutheran when you live a hundred miles away (or more)? What goes through a parent’s mind? How tough is it to make the decision? How hard is it to say goodbye each time your child heads back to school?
