Days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, and spring is quickly approaching! We have many exciting announcements to share this month: 

Our 2021 SCBA member directory is completed! This directory is being mailed out to over 15,000 homes in Carroll County, so be on the lookout. Thank you so much to Trembling Giant Marketing, LLC for creating, producing, and distributing the directory. Your continued support of the SCBA is much appreciated.

The 2021 SCBA Scholarship Fund Application is now available and has been distributed to local high schools. The deadline to apply is April 30th (must be postmarked by this date). Details are included within this newsletter and on our website. Good luck to all who apply!

Save the date for our one and only fundraiser- The Supporting Strategies Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament! It will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Links at Challedon. This event is sponsored by Supporting Strategies. 100% of net proceeds go directly to the SCBA Scholarship Fund to help local students. Additional details regarding The Supporting Strategies Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament will follow.

We have remaining virtual sponsorship opportunities in our 2021 meeting calendar. For only $50, virtual sponsors are given exposure for their business along with approximately 5 minutes to speak about your business or any topic of your choosing during our meeting. Our Speaker: Bryan Lyburn
This month's speaker is Bryan Lyburn of Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County. He will be speaking about their mission and discussing the grand opening of the ReStore in Westminster. The ReStore is a place where you can donate and purchase gently used items such as building materials, furniture and appliances. All proceeds go to building homes in Carroll County. The 2021 Scholarship Fund Application
Each year, the South Carroll Business Association (SCBA) awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are homeschooled or attend a school located in Carroll County, Maryland. This year eight (8) total scholarships will be awarded.

The SCBA Scholarship Fund was established to assist qualified students in obtaining a degree from accredited academic institutions of higher learning in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, or finance. During the selection process, emphasis is also placed on the student’s performance and desire to both maintain a strong academic record while exhibiting humanitarian qualities that have a positive impact on the Carroll County Community.

To be considered for this scholarship, a student must:
  • be currently enrolled in a homeschool program or high school located in Carroll County, Maryland
  • be a resident of Carroll County, Maryland
  • have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above
  • be continuing their education once graduating from high school
  • demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the fields of business, finance, or entrepreneurship.
