"To reach the heights, aim high!"

Dear Fenwick Family,

As we come to the half-way point of the first quarter, our students have adjusted well to the new academic year. We are having a very smooth start to the school year and appreciate the efforts of our students and faculty for such a great start!

We’re excited this upcoming week to have the new turf field project completed and having football and soccer games getting to be played on Yeager Field! Please join us Friday night, October 6 for the Homecoming game vs. McNicholas and soccer games on Saturday, October 7 for both girls and boys varsity teams vs. Kings.

Fall is a great time to celebrate the change in seasons and to mimic the foliage of the trees, as we let the things of the past fall away and look to what’s ahead.

May God bless our school community.

Go Falcons!

Yours in Service,

Blane M. Collison

President/CEO

The Powder Puff games are touch football games among the girls. These games will take place on Sunday, October 1, starting at 4:30 p.m. The seniors are wearing pink, the juniors are wearing purple, the sophomores are wearing light blue, and the freshmen are wearing yellow. The parents are also having a tailgate for the students with food and drink during and after the games.   All are welcome; there is no charge to attend.

  • Monday, October 2 - Friday, October 6: Homecoming Spirit Week.  Daily themes:
  • Monday, October 2 -- PJ Day
  • Tuesday, October 3 -- Tacky Tourist Day
  • Wednesday, October 4 -- Elderly
  • Thursday, October 5 -- Barbecue Dad and Soccer Mom

  • Friday, October 6: Homecoming Game. Kickoff against McNicholas is 7:00 p.m. This is the first game on our new field! At 6:30 p.m., Yeager Field will be dedicated, so be sure to join us for all the festivities! During halftime of the game, the 2023 Homecoming Court will be introduced, and the Bishop Fenwick Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned. The theme for the Friday night game is Red Sea, so be sure to wear your red!

  • Saturday, October 7: Homecoming Dance. Our homecoming week ends with the 2023 Homecoming Dance, which will be held at Fenwick in the main gym from 8:00-11:00 p.m. The attendees can enter through the front of the school that evening and dance the night away with all of their friends. The dress attire for the Homecoming Dance is semi-formal.

The cost of the dance is $20 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased through Hometown Ticketing beginning Friday, September 22. Ticket sales end Friday, October 6 at 12:00 noon.

Dance Information:

Date: October 7

Time: 8:00-11:00 p.m.

Place: Bishop Fenwick High School

Theme: Floating Lanterns/Enchanted Forest

Dress: Semi-formal attire for both girls and boys

Shoes: We ask that if the girls wear heels, then they bring along some tennis shoes to wear on the gym floor. The heels do have to come off before entering the gym to dance. We also ask that boys wear soft-soled shoes or tennis shoes in order to keep them on when dancing in the gym.

Other Important Information:

Counseling Connections

Flock Block with the Counselors

This week the juniors actively engaged with representatives from Safety on Main, an organization that supports state initiatives to teach our children developmentally appropriate information regarding healthy relationships. The juniors were asked to think through their personal responses to various scenarios, then discuss their reactions with their peers. Overall, our juniors displayed maturity, empathy, and a clear understanding of the topics. Way to go, Falcons.

Wellness Tip

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. September marked Suicide Awareness Month. The two topics are forever connected. One crucial element that connects both topics is the importance of healthy communication. Challenge yourself to contemplate the different meanings and impacts of these word sets from all sides. Have a conversation at home about them:

  • Childlike vs Childish – e.g., enjoy playing boardgames vs. ignoring homework to play video games.
  • Critical vs Constructive - e.g., saying “you did awful” vs. “let’s practice that together.”
  • Blunt vs Mean-Spirited – e.g., saying “let me think about my response” vs. “I was never really your friend.”
  • Selfish vs Self-Centered vs Self-Focused – e.g., saying “you can’t have any” vs. “I am obviously hungrier than you” vs. “hey, I have a track meet today and really need this snack to prepare myself for it.”

As a reminder, our counselor breakdown is:
