A SUDDs Member Retires
It is with mixed feelings we announce the retirement of Deputy Chief Ken Pelland. While we are excited for DC Pelland as he moves to his next venture, he has been an integral part of the SUDDs coalition for 15 years and will be greatly missed. His willingness to give his time and service to the Downriver community is appreciated more than words can convey. Through the years he has supported the mission of the coalition in many ways, from planning town hall meetings, to training youth volunteers and through his primary role of coordinating and implementing alcohol and tobacco compliance checks to ensure tobacco and alcohol retailers follow the laws surrounding preventing sales to minors. He has seen the negative consequences of substance use among youth over the years so, even though this was not part of his regular job duties he did it because he is passionate about keeping youth safe. We thank him for his dedication and hard work.
At this time, we do not have a replacement for DC Pelland who can continue this important role. We are looking and asking anyone in law enforcement who cares about youth and who share DC Pelland’s passion for a safer Downriver to contact us at suddscoalition1@gmail.com.
We appreciate and will miss you so much Ken! Best wishes as you start on this new chapter of your life.
