FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.: It’s difficult to watch television, listen to a podcast, or go online without seeing a gambling advertisement or influencer. That has caused legislators on the federal and state levels to push stricter regulations.

The National Council of Legislators (NCLGS) will convene in Florida just after the state’s most recognizable company – the Walt Disney Co. – enters the sports-betting market with the ESPN-PENN Entertainment deal.

Gaming advertising will be the topic of discussion for a panel of legislative and regulatory experts at the NCLGS Winter Meeting, January 3-6 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.

The Responsible Gaming Committee discussion – titled “Extra! Extra! Read all About It” – will be co-chaired by West Virginia Delegate (and NCLGS President) Shawn Fluharty and Louisiana Senator Gary Smith. Presenters will include:

  • Chris Adams, CEO, SharpRank
  • Howard Glaser, Global Head of Government Affairs and Counsel, Light & Wonder
  • Alan Miller, Senior Attorney, Louisiana Senate
  • Daniel Trolaro, Vice President of Prevention – US, EPIC Risk Management

NCLGS has a block of rooms available at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. Reservations must be made by December 6, 2023, to receive the NCLGS-contracted rate. Rooms in the NCLGS block are limited in number and may sell out so book your hotel now.

The four-day conference will include 12 sessions chaired by legislative leaders from around the country. Included in the program will be receptions on Wednesday and Thursday night, sponsored by GLI and IGT, respectively. Attendees will have the opportunity to mingle with industry insiders, state legislators and regulators on an informal basis.

More than 50 industry professionals will participate as speakers throughout the conference, which brings together hundreds of gaming leaders, legislators, regulators, media and other insiders to examine the trends, challenges and critical issues facing the industry today.

In addition, the Sports Betting Regulators Association (SBRA) will once again co-locate with NCLGS, meeting on the afternoon of January 3. All NCLGS attendees are welcome to attend.

The Board of Directors of NCLGS is also delighted to invite attendees to two off-site events:

  • 1S/T Technology and The Stronach Group will sponsor an “Afternoon at the Races” at historic Gulfstream Park on the afternoon of January 5.
  •  The world-famous Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will host a reception to close out the conference on the afternoon of January 6.
