This has been a long year and as we slowly return to normal we realize how important our Friends have been. Your library Friends too. They have kept you company as you enjoyed the many programs the Friends of the Eldredge Public Library sponsored. In addition to the Learning Series programs last Fall, over the past year, the Friends have funded 37 adult programs, as well as children’s programs. Many of you even enjoyed them when you were away from Chatham. I know we are all tired of Zoom and very happy to meet in person, but if you are honest, hasn’t Zoom been a life saver? I must admit I don’t love going out on a Winter evening, but with Zoom, I could attend evening Library programs dressed in my pajamas curled up on my couch!
Although the book sale in the Library has not been open, the Friends had a cart of free books outside the Library when weather and roof repair allowed. I couldn’t help but notice when I picked up books, that someone was always checking out the titles. As the Library reopens the book sale will be reopening just in time for your Summer reading.
On Sunday, July 11th at 2pm the Eldredge Public Library will be celebrating their 125th anniversary. The Friends will have a table to sell Library merchandise. Stop by and take a look, say hello and learn about the Friends. We are very friendly.
In just a few weeks the Friends will begin their Annual Membership drive. I hope you will consider joining the Friends if you are not a member and if you are, I hope you will renew your membership. Your contributions are what enable us to do what we do.
