Synod staff this week

Bishop Ann Svennungsen is attending the Conference of Bishops Gathering in Chicago this week. Mercy Zou Taithul is out of the office all week. Normal office hours are in place.

We are synodia

“The Christian church refers to the union of its congregations as a synod, not just to rescue the biblical term but also to reclaim the spirit of belonging and togetherness that characterizes early Christianity. Today, the common faith and confession bring us together as synodia. Our gatherings for worship, conferences assemblies, synod assembly, and Churchwide assembly send out the message to the world that we are synodia together. A strong synod is the outcome of healthy relationships and well-connected congregations.”

Four ways to kick-start Youth Gathering planning

1. Hold an information meeting. See who might be interested in journeying to the bayou this summer for the faith-filled experience of a lifetime. Use our promotional materials to save some time!

2. Sign up for gLearn. Fundraising ideas, sample budgets, tips for recruiting adult leaders, and more can be found within the Handbook Series.

3. Don’t think you’ll have a big group? That’s OK! Connect with your Gathering Synod Champion to see if you can tag along with other small groups in your area.

4. Download the Getting Ready Materials — a curriculum designed to get your group together and talking about the daily themes of the Gathering.

The Minneapolis Area Synod invites you to an in-person informational session to meet Rev. Pete Reuss, the SAS facilitator, and learn more about the process. To RSVP for the session, please contact Lynda Nordholm.

Lutheran Campus Ministry hosts early welcome event

On Wednesday, April 10, local high school youth are invited to join in Lutheran Campus Ministry's first "LCM Youth Night @ the U." Student leaders will welcome youth to a worship service, as well as connecting with high school students over dinner before worship, and treats and fellowship afterward.

Wednesday, April 10; 6:30 p.m. U of M Campus Ministry
