Juneteenth Easier Access to Campus, Flexibility for AU Allies, and More
Dear Assumption Students,

As many students prepare to leave campus for the break or athletic competitions, I would like to let you know of changes to how students access campus, new organizational options for AU Allies, and commemorating the Juneteenth holiday.

First, effective immediately, you no longer need to swipe your University identification card at the front gate to enter campus during business hours. For the safety of students, IDs will still be required to activate the gate when the Gate House is not staffed.

Second, I met with the leadership of AU Allies and encouraged the group to organize as members prefer, whether in Campus Ministry or elsewhere, with faculty and/or staff advisers of their choosing. Campus Ministry has graciously offered to support AU Allies in any way the group desires.

We are looking forward to Duck Day, Pup Cup, Spring Weekend, and the Spring Concert beginning next week—all signs that our traditions are returning from the disruptions caused by the pandemic. Plans are in the works for even more opportunities to build our community by bringing us together.

The entire Administration is committed to improving your experience as a student, and I’m grateful for the many ideas I’ve already received from administrators, faculty, staff, and students for doing so. Know that I am reviewing those ideas for potential and quick implementation.  Do you have an idea or concern? Email me at next@assumption.edu. I look forward to hearing from you and from SGA when I meet with them on Sunday, April 24.

I hope you have a restful and enjoyable break with family and friends.
