Rose was born an only child in Nuremberg, Germany, and emigrated with her parents to Buffalo, N.Y., in 1930. She met her husband, Roy, there and married in 1944, giving birth to a daughter and three sons before moving to Wheaton, Illinois, around 1950, when Roy was transferred to the Chicago office by the Wurlitzer company. After her children were grown, she obtained a real estate license and took flying lessons.
She fulfilled a lifelong dream of coming to California in 2003, when her son Stephen found a house for his parents on Bahama Cove in Del Mar Heights. Unfortunately, Roy died later that same year, but Rose continued to be active in her PEO chapter, her book club, Dr. Kalina's Healthy Aging group, and the DMCC Sages Investment group, of which she was one of the founding members. She continued managing her finances and her investment portfolio entirely on her own until the very end, and was valued highly by her fellow Sages for her wise and prudent investing advice.
