September 2023

Later this month is Suicide Prevention Week: September 10-16, 2023.

How can you participate?

Together, we can help to promote wellness, eliminate the stigma, and reduce the rate of suicide. The week is a great reminder to be kind, help others, and continue to look out for one another. Take a look through this month's newsletter to learn about the ways you can take part.

The Talk Away the Dark campaign, hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention provides great resources on how you can participate in the annual Suicide Prevention Week later this month:

Talking is the first step to preventing suicide. We might worry that saying the wrong thing will make it worse. So, we end up not saying anything -- even though a few kind words can make the difference in connecting someone to help or supporting someone who experienced a suicide loss. It's time we shed a light on this leading cause of death. It's time we talk away the dark.

We hope these resources help you to take part in this year's Suicide Prevention Week. You can find additional resources at: afsp.org, samaritans.org, and jedfoundation.org.

Don't forget to mark your calendar for the first annual Sarah's Village Day!
