February 2022
Dear Students and Colleagues,

It has been great to see students, faculty and staff back on campus for the spring semester. We will be hosting a combination of on-campus and online events throughout the upcoming months.

Among the informative events we have scheduled for this month is a session about supply chain management and the Internet of Things. If those are of particular interest to you, I encourage you to check out our Supply Chain 4.0 session on February 22.

Regards,
MaryAnne Hyland, PhD

Finance Students Gain an Edge With SIE Exam Preparation

Undergraduate finance students are investing in their career futures by studying for the Securities Industry Essentials® (SIE®) Exam, which is a FINRA exam for future securities industry professionals. Once passed, it helps to send a strong signal to employers.

The preparation through Solomon Exam Prep and the test itself are all free for our students, thanks to a generous donation by Michael Graziano ’77, an expert within the financial services industry and an Adelphi University graduate.
International Business With a Focus on China

For the fourth year running, the undergraduate International Business course was offered virtually over the 2022 winter Intersession. The course was experiential in nature with a focus on China. Students learned how to appreciate and successfully function in Chinese business and culture. The course consisted of class lectures and participation in a variety of experiential activities, including tai chi, a Chinese tea ceremony and virtual visits to the Museum of Chinese in America and the United Nations. Several guest speakers with international experience also addressed the class. Additionally, a team of Adelphi graduate students from China participated as “cultural liaisons,” and enhanced the students’ understanding and experience. Pamela Buckle, PhD, MA ’13, professor of management, and Joseph Sheldrick, MBA ’97, adjunct faculty member, facilitated the course, with logistical support from Lori Cary, MBA ’20, interim director for student success.
