MESSAGE FROM JIMMY

I have three exciting things to share with you this week…

1. Take a walk. Stress often reveals itself physically in my body. I clench my jaws and get extremely restless. How do you experience stress? I want to encourage you to take care of yourself over these next few weeks. The weather is going to be awesome in the afternoons. Take a walk. Try breathing relaxation techniques and PRAY (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

2. “We Are the World.” Debbie and I recently watched a new documentary on Netflix called “The Greatest Night in Pop.” It tells the behind-the-scenes story of the recording of “We Are the World” in January 1985. If you are a child of the 80s, it will bring back a lot of memories!

3. Town hall is Thursday night. Our Ministry Council has been meeting this week to dialogue about the issues going on in the United Methodist Church. Our prayer and hope is for our church leaders to make a recommendation regarding our upcoming Church Conference vote on March 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. I hope you will join us at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, in the Worship Center to hear their recommendation and ask questions.

This week in worship…

“Where You Plant Matters”

Mark 4:1-20

In the parable of the four types of soil, Jesus digs into the dynamics of dirt and discipleship. What threats exist to our discipleship? What type of soil are you?

I hope you will make attending worship a priority this week. We need you here worshiping and praying with us. See you Sunday!

Jimmy

MISSION OPPORTUNITY

We are planning a mission trip to Nicaragua from June 24 until July 1. The main projects for the trip will be to help build a Methodist church and to facilitate a free eye clinic near the community of Leon. Depending on the makeup of our mission team, we may also put on a VBS as well. Youth mission team members will need to have completed high school or be accompanied by an approved guardian. If you would be interested in going or being involved and would like more information, please call Bob Jackson, 601-668-4836 or Mike Norcom, 769-243-4983.
