Big Brass Bed Runs on Pegasus Day
As One's newest addition, Big Brass Bed, made her debut in the As One silks on one of the winter’s biggest racing days in a 1 1/16 mile allowance race on the turf on Pegasus Day at Gulfstream Park. Big Brass Bed kicked off the action in the opening race on a day that featured seven stakes races capped by the $3,000,000 Pegasus World Cup.

Our partnership got an added bonus with world class jockey Frankie Dettori piloting our new filly as she returned off of a six month layoff. Big Brass Bed was forwardly placed coming down the backstretch. Coming in to the turn, Dettori looked for a spot on the rail but it closed quickly. After shuffling back, Big Brass Bed rallied back to finish gamely down the stretch. In the end, she earned a 6th place finish in the competitive race.

A number of partners and friends of As One were on hand to watch, including As One partner Eric Gustavson and Spendthrift Farm manager Ned Toffey, as well as Big Brass Bed co-owner Edgar Harty. As can be seen below, the As One mission was helped as well with a pre-race interview by TVG to discuss our newest horse and the overall mission of As One.
Bolivie (IRE) and Murphy's Gift Freshen Over the Winter in Florida

Our two other fillies, Bolivie and Murphy's Gift, each received a little time off after their 2023 campaigns. Like athletes in many other sports, horses also need some time to rest and recover from time to time. Similar to an off-season, horses can benefit from some time away from racing and heavy training to recover physically and mentally.

Bolivie raced seven times in 2023 in both Europe and the United States and deserved some well-earned rest. As a two-year-old in 2023, Murphy's Gift was just beginning her career as a racehorse and learning how to train and race at competitive levels. After two solid races at Churchill Downs to get her career started, it was time for her to rest a little and also continue to grow as a young horse in anticipation of her three-year-old campaign.

Both horses traveled to Florida for the Winter months and stabled under the care of Gene Recio at Lynwood Stable in Ocala, Florida. After a couple of months of rest, both Bolivie and Murphy's Gift are doing well and have gone back under tack for light training and will return to full training with Brendan Walsh soon.
Diversity in the Industry
As One Mission Featured on TVG
Part of our mission at As One Racing is to bring attention to issues relating to diversity in the horse industry, to introduce new fans and owners to the sport, and to help tell the history of the sport.

We got another huge boost from TVG on January 27 when Big Brass Bed raced on one of the biggest days of winter racing, Pegasus Day.

Before the race, outstanding commentator and TVG personality Gabby Gaudet interviewed As One partners Jay Ingle and Jonathan Israel to learn more about our mission and our newest equine athlete.

The interview aired on TVG's coverage of Pegasus Day and was shared by TVG on its social media channels. TVG's post of the interview on X (Twitter) had over 6,700 views.

Moments like these can only help our efforts to grow the sport and further our mission.
