Undesigning the Redline: A Virtual Tour & Discussion Presented by BPI & H.O.P.E Dealers Outreach
Grab your lunch and join BPI and friends for an engaging virtual event focused on redlining, its continued impacts, and plans for how we can work together to undesign the redline.

You’ll have the opportunity to view a short virtual tour of the local Undesign the Redline exhibit at the Central Forsyth County library, listen to an incredible panel discussion featuring H.O.P.E. Dealers Outreach and three other BPI grantees, and engage in the conversation by asking questions and sharing your ideas.

We are so grateful to our panelists and moderator for giving their time to this critical conversation:

Frankie Gist, H.O.P.E Dealers Outreach
Antonio Stevenson, My Brothers Second Chance
Tiffany Waddell Tate (moderator), BPI Advisory Board Member

We hope you will be able to join us Tuesday, February 22nd, from noon to 1:00 PM and help us spread the word about the event!
In the meantime, we hope you'll read this new blog post on Undesign the Redline, conversation between two Winston-Salem Foundation staff members reflecting on what they've learned and experienced by planning and participating in guided tours with other community members.

The blog post is also full of educational resources about redlining maps on a local and national level, and you can digitally explore Winston-Salem's own 1937 redlining map. Learn how these maps helped create the many challenges that community members in redlined neighborhoods still have todaysome 85 years later. We hope you'll bring your thoughts and insights to the panel discussion on February 22nd!

BPI's Impact Grant Deadline is Approaching
There's still time to submit a video proposal for BPI's Impact Grants Program. Our Impact Grants program is specifically designed for Black-led groups with annual budgets of less than $150,000. We know from experience that smaller organizations are overburdened by more strenuous grant applications and therefore left out of traditional funding opportunities. So all we ask of you is a short video explaining your project idea. Organizations may apply for grants of up to $1,000.

The deadline to apply is Monday, February 7 at 11:59 pm.
Please pass this opportunity along to groups who may be interested in learning more or are looking for funding to support their work in Forsyth County!

If you have questions, please reach out to Shamika Starke, strategic initiatives officer at sstarke@wsfoundation.org.
Want to have your giving leveraged and be a part of an initiative led entirely by Black people focused on making an impact on the local Black community? Donate to BPI today!
