Garbage In, Garbage Out!

In with the good...

Let's talk about (yawn) databases. But seriously...a solid donor, prospective donor, and professional advisor database is fundamental to a strong fundraising program. Even if you have a database, if it is not maintained on a regular basis, your garbage pile is steadily filling up. Worse, if you are adopting a NEW database and you are importing old records or seriously incorrect input, you will now have to dissect the good from the garbage. And, my friends, that is a LOT of wasted time---when you should be connecting with all of your constituency instead of finding your face getting hot while you try to make sense of it all. See a rare breed below: an operations and database specialist named Jenny Kleintop, focusing on nonprofits:

Jenny Kleintop: PhilanthropyOps

Jenny is a philanthropy operations and fundraising database consultant. She is the Founder and Chief Philanthropy Operations Officer of PhilanthropyOps, offering fractional support, interim work, and professional development for philanthropy operations, CRM/database, data, and prospecting. Jenny helps to accelerate progress, growth, and development---as well as foster better fundraising results! She has a great sense of humor and is approachable as it relates to the ever-evolving world of fundraising. Learn more at Jenny and her impressive work at www.philanthropyops.com.

About — PhilanthropyOps

A Tip for Nonprofits: Do you offer raffles as part of your fundraising programs? If so, there are pros to highlight and cons to be aware of. See this insightful article here to compare notes on what your program is doing (and what you SHOULD be aware of): Raffles - Pros and Cons | Society for Nonprofits (snpo.org)

A Tip for Donors: What is that thing under your bed? Is it worth $500 or $500,000? Well, you may never know unless you see what it appraises for and what the market will bear. You may be able to donate it and turn that illiquid, tangible asset into good work in your community! Read more here: About GiftLaw Pro (giftlegacy.com)

A Tip for Professional Advisors: I now have SIXTEEN 50-minute PowerPoint presentations on charitable giving topics, with most of them offered through myCPE, where you can also get CE credits! So, if you need something on-demand in the next 60 days, look here: Most Affordable Continuing Education Platform (my-cpe.com)

We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something."
