Telephone Support Group for Caregivers
Caregivers are a vital part of the healthcare system – they provide loving and essential care to their family or loved one. As part of their role, it is important for caregivers to have a resource to reach out to if they need help and support. Through the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7), a Caregiver Telephone Support Group is available for the ten core counties the Agency serves which include Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton. The next call will take place on Thursday, February 17 from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm. All family caregivers are welcome and invited to participate.

Free Community Suicide
Awareness/Prevention Training
The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) recently received funding from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s (FAO) Cause Connector giving program. Cause Connector is a charitable matchmaking site, created to help more donors support local nonprofit projects in Appalachian Ohio. The AAA7 is utilizing the funding to support an important community training for suicide awareness and prevention called QPR: Question, Persuade, and Refer.
Upcoming virtual training dates have been set and the training is open to anyone in the community who is interested. March 8 session will begin at 10:00 am and the training will last a couple hours. Attendees will receive materials ahead of time to use in the training.

Upcoming CEU Training Opportunity
“Sensitivity to Aging” – March 16 from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm.
Three (3) CEUs provided. More information about CEU details included on the attached information. CEUs available for social workers, nurses, and nursing home administrators.
This will be a VIRTUAL training. Once registration and payment is received, a link to access the training will be e-mailed.
Training information and registration instructions are attached. Fee is $50 per attendee. Registration deadline is March 2. We can only accept hard copy checks for payment. (Money can be due by March 15).

2021 FREE TAX RETURN
PREPARATION AND FILING
The Workforce & Business Development Program at the Community Action Committee of Pike County located at 941 Market Street in Piketon is providing the Free Tax Preparation Program by filing current and past years’ federal and state tax returns FREE OF CHARGE for low to moderate income taxpayers. Our Volunteer staff are certified by the IRS to prepare and complete tax returns.
Tax Envelopes and required forms are available in the mailbox outside the OMJ Career Center windows, along with a checklist of documents needed to properly prepare tax returns. It is IMPORTANT that you provide a good working contact number for the tax staff to reach you. Once your documents have been accepted by our staff, contact will be conducted via telephone as needed. Income Tax Returns can be dropped off at the OhioMeansJobs Career Center Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING SERIES:
“360-DEGREE LEADERSHIP”
The Workforce & Business Development Program (W&B) at the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC) will be hosting the next installment of the Leadership Development Training Series which began earlier this year, with this session being focused on “360-Degree Leadership.” This training session is a 2-day class which will be conducted on Tuesday, February 22nd and Wednesday, February 23rd from 9 am to 4 pm both days at the Agency’s Main Location (941 Market Street in Piketon)...

RESUME WORKSHOP
The OhioMeansJobs Pike County Career Center at the Community Action Committee of Pike County will be hosting a no-cost Resume Workshop on Wednesday, February 23 from 5 – 7 pm. This event will be conducted at the OhioMeansJobs Career Center Training Lab located at 941 Market Street, Piketon. Registration is required due to limited space.
This workshop will cover basic resume writing skills such as: resume tips, internet presence, good and bad resumes, objectives and skills, parts of a resume, and types of resumes.
Face masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
