Using the free iNaturalist app, go outsisde and look for the first flowering plants of the year, spring ephemerals! As the name suggests, these first flowers of spring don't last long, but they are welcome sight after a long winter. By posting ovservations of these blooming plants to our iNaturalist project we will be able to have a better idea of the types, locations and bloom time of the ephemerals that are found in our woodlands. iNaturalist is a great tool for identifying plants and wildlife and also contributes to a world wide collection of information about plants and animals.

Why I chose this program:
Looking for plants, insects and other wildlife in your community helps train your eyes to observe what is out there! The species identification tools in iNaturalist can help you learn about our area's plants and animals. Plus, if you aren't sure what you found, there is a great community of other observers who can help you make your identification. Not to mention you are contributing to an ever-growing set of data about the diversity of species in our area. I have certainly found it educational and enjoyable when I am out in nature.

Why I chose this program:
We have a lot going on to celebrate Easter at the Park District this year, but Baby's First Easter is probably my favorite! I like to work with parents to decide what kind of gift or memento they'd like to have, then plan the design in a way that makes it EASY for parents. I'll bring the supplies, I'll clean up the mess. Most projects will go home the same day. Parents can call for an appointment time that works best for their schedule after registering.
