VEGETABLE GARDEN/ANIMAL RAISING PROJECT

Thanks to a very generous donation from our wonderful women friends at Sisters Share, a highly anticipated project has just become a reality. With tools and seeds purchased, and under the guidance of an agronomist, our Ishara House children began learning the joys and hard work of growing food. This life skill will also add extra nutrition to their diet and in the future they will learn business skills by selling surplus to the community.

Stay tuned for the upcoming animal husbandry portion of the project.

NEW CHILDREN
Lea joined ISHARA HOUSE in February this year. Recently orphaned, her aunt was no longer able to care for her and brought her to our director, Herman. Initially, she had a very critical bout in hospital for a week with malaria and anemia. Our loving house mother Chibalonza spent hours at her bedside there bringing food and comforting her. Lea is growing stronger and happier each day upon returning.
Ursule joined our Mukwidja ISHARA HOUSE in March after being found badly burned a couple of weeks prior and having had no medical treatment Herman took her to the clinic there. Our house mother Chance stayed with her during the care. While her burns are healing, we know her trauma is still strong and we are providing her with ongoing trauma healing. Understandably her first smile was a long time coming. Those first smiles are what encourage us to continue forward with this vital work.
Jospin was abandoned and left in the care of an impoverished uncle who could no longer care for him. Understandably traumatized and very quiet for a long time, Jospin has slowly become more relaxed and engaged at his new home.
ISHARA HOUSE EXPANSION
Our original Ishara House has been bursting at the seams with 30 precious children that need our love and care. Of late, several malnourished and orphaned children, including the dear ones from the previous story, have desperately needed to join us and now we have space to take them! Thank you to our tireless director Herman Chirihambali and to a donor for facilitating this project.
OUR BEGINNINGS

In 2016, Ishara House was established through a synchronistic connection between Clare Campbell and Herman Chirihambali. Their meeting was auspicious, as Clare is a world traveler and hopeful visionary, and Herman a former teacher, principal and visionary for his Congolese community. Together they created Ishara House, a home for orphaned and vulnerable children. What began with three precious children has expanded to 40 children who are safe and lovingly nurtured in not one, but two Ishara House locations. Read more
