The Apocalypse of Resurrection in Sukkot
You've probably noticed that we've been offline a couple of weeks. We celebrated with so many wonderful old and new friends at Sukkot Shalom in Walla Walla, Washington. Walla Walla means "many waters," and for sure, the waters of Messiah Yeshua flowed freely and peacefully throughout the camp each day. What a blessing! We are now en route home, and we've just been able to catch enough wifi to generate the newsletter and upload some videos for the online Torah classes.
To kick off the new Torah reading cycle, we're making the class videos this week public. They are a little different from our usual videos. There's no great Powerpoint graphics, just me teaching in the camper. I think you'll enjoy the "sealing up" of this year's Sukkot with some wonderful insights into the Book of Revelation and Paul's resurrection letters from the Torah portions. We hope to start afresh with classes next week. Here are you links to the Resurrection Apocalypse:
I rarely send out the information to join the online Torah classes unless the individual first emails me to inquire. My students are my best recruiters because they already know the best fits for the class, and it saves me a lot of work enrolling or removing students. I'd rather be studying and writing!
That said, since we're starting a new Torah cycle, I'm posting the information below for anyone who is curious. There is no textbook, and I don't check roll. We're on the honor system. Since there's not enough time in a day to answer every email or message, I do give priority to the Torah students who commit their time to study together with me each week, and the class time is my committed time for personal interaction.
Live Torah Classes
Live classes are held online each Monday night 9:00 - 10:00 pm Eastern or Tuesday afternoons at 12:30 - 1:30 pm Eastern on Zoom. You can join live on Zoom for the one hour teaching and after-class discussion. Each class teaching is recorded (but not after-class discussion), and students receive a link to download the recording to both classes whether they are able to log in or not.
The $10 cost is per student email login (the whole family can join as long as it's just one device login) per month. A payment reminder comes once per month with payment instructions. For students who happen to be away from their computers, it is possible to log in to the class with an iPad or iPhone.
To enroll, email the following information to creationgospel@gmail.com:
Name
Email address for class login
If your schedule is not a good fit for live classes, you may sign up and still receive the recordings.
Once I enter your email into Zoom, you can access the audio and video links each week on the Zoom cloud. If you choose to download them instead of just listen or view, they will stay on your computer until you remove them. If you have your own professional Zoom account, beware of some glitches with Zoom; they may try to link you account to mine.
We will be studying the Torah portions and haftarot along with the material from manuscripts in progress, i.e., Song of Songs.
Just let me know whenever you decide you don't want to continue. A payment reminder comes once per month along with instructions for Paypal or a check via snail mail. If cost is a problem, just let me know. I can't accommodate other online payment methods or non-US checks. Don't worry about payment until the email notice comes since on certain months I give "Passover passes" or "Sukkot skips."
Due to travel for speaking engagements or classes falling on a feast day, classes occasionally are rescheduled on a different day, or may be omitted altogether during the high holy days. Please don't sign up someone else for class without his or her knowledge or permission.
I hope we'll see you in class soon!
