Pandemic Relief for Child Care Providers – Financial Resources
There are new pandemic relief assistance options for child care centers and family child care providers. These are critical resources that can help you sustain your program.
We strongly encourage all providers to take at least 1 hour to watch the following webinar (one for centers and one for family child care) on the assistance that is available. The “watch the video” link is small, but above the “attachment” box.

·  Centers

In addition, we have attached three resources that can further assist you in this process:
1. Cash Options for Providers – An overview of the funding available
2. Payroll Protection Program Options for Child Care Providers
3. FAQs on taxation of payments and loans from Coronavirus Relief Fund. Also check out this webpage:

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Child Care Program, Children’s Advocacy Alliance, Las Vegas Urban League and The Children’s Cabinet are working together to gather provider responses and share with partner agencies so we can better support you with the information and resources you need. After watching the webinar and reviewing the resources provided, what additional questions do you have or what support do you need to take advantage of these funding opportunities?

First Friday Forum
Our Monday Morning Mingles have turned into First Friday Forums! Join us at 12:30pm on the first Friday of the month for a 30-minute monthly chat with friends and colleagues in the Afterschool and Out-Of-School-Time field.

The theme for this month is Supports & Resources for In-Person programs. We want to hear from OST professionals about supports/resources needed for going back to the classroom and/or in-person programs. What are current in-person programs doing that are successful? What do programs need from NAN that can help them as they move forward?

Our next chat will happen this Friday, March 5th. We hope to see you then!

RESOURCES & TOOLS
*NEW* NV OST Program Map
The Nevada Afterschool Network encourages you to use the program locator map to find an out-of-school-time program near you in Nevada.

Please note that this map includes the name of the program and the program location and is updated each fall. It does not assess the quality of the program, nor endorse the program. We encourage you to interview your selection of programs for your children with the Quality Standards for Programs document in mind.
Afterschool Data Factsheets
for Nevada
For years, afterschool programs have kept kids safe, inspired them to learn, and helped working families. America After 3PM—the largest survey on afterschool, spanning 16 years—found that unmet demand has skyrocketed. For every child in an afterschool program, 3 are waiting to get in.

Demand remains strong during the pandemic, as parents see programs providing critical supports. Thanks to the support of the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Nevada Afterschool Network was able to collect information on program availability, features, and needs of afterschool in our state. We invite you to view the factsheets and use them as tools to advocate for afterschool in our state.
Million Girls Moonshot Free Toolkit
The Engineering Mindset Toolkit is a collection of resources and tools for all 50 Mott Afterschool States Networks and their partners to access and utilize for the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative.
The resources in the Engineering Mindset Toolkit are not exhaustive. We will continue to add and modify the resources as the Initiative evolves and depending upon the needs of the Networks.

The Million Girls Moonshot focuses on the Engineering Mindset which we believe compliments the STEM mindset, as well as innovation, invention, and entrepreneurial education.

The Nevada Afterschool Network is excited to join the Million Girls Moonshot in this movement and empower the girls in our state. Stay tuned for exciting STEM opportunities for NV girls!

With activities from premier organizations like Jazz at Lincoln Center and powerful management tools, this new app can help you strengthen your afterschool program. The National Summer Learning Project (NSLP) examined the implementation and effectiveness of voluntary summer learning programs developed by five school districts — Boston, Massachusetts; Dallas, Texas; Duval County, Florida; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Rochester, New York — and their local community partners.

The study spanned three phases. This seventh report in a series summarizes the findings of this third phase in the context of earlier findings and offers implications for policy and practice. Overall longitudinal findings show that, by spring 2017, the academic benefits for high attenders decreased in magnitude and were not statistically significant — although when benchmarked against typical achievement gains at the same grade level, they remained large enough to be educationally meaningful.
