Here's a CEBA Update
Be A Part of History...Donate Today

|
The Center For Education, Business and the Arts (CEBA) is very close to becoming a reality! This innovation center will become a community hub where all people of all walks of life, ages, and backgrounds can gather, share ideas and learn and grow together.
So, what is CEBA? CEBA is an innovation center where entrepreneurs and community members can acquire affordable education, business space, and valuable resources they need to start and grow their businesses. CEBA will include a much-needed culinary kitchen, conference/event center with a catering kitchen, a classroom for higher education, and co-working spaces.
We're working collaboratively with a variety of exceptional partners to keep our momentum going," said Susan Williams, Executive Director of DSI. "As with any project of this magnitude, there are many moving parts. The pandemic might have slowed us down a bit, but thanks to the support of so many, we are continuing with plans to break ground in early 2022. What a celebration it will be when we open our doors to the community," she said.
Here's A CEBA Update
- Thanks to a generous grant from the Regional Housing Legal Services, we are working with Chris Gulotta of the Gulotta Group to assist us in obtaining financing and processing grant and loan applications
- We have received a $1.5 RACP state grant that requires a dollar to dollar match. An ongoing capital campaign continues for the match and to raise match funding and for commitments that are not covered by state grants.
- Multiple architectural proposals for the final building plans are being reviewed by The DSI Board
- Multiple letters of intent and letters of support from area business leaders, organizations, government officials, and community members who support CEBA are arriving daily
- DSI is accepting requests for naming rights for rooms within CEBA
- DSI is accepting requests for naming bricks for the CEBA building
- DSI plans to break ground on CEBA in early 2022
CEBA’s collaborative environment will enable individuals to grow their business ideas to a point where they can open their own storefronts, thereby helping to revitalize the community, fill empty storefronts, and create new jobs.
We're making headway every day. Be a part of history and please donate today. Every dollar counts...your dollar counts.

CEBA Connects 2021 Shared Tips From Best Selling Book
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has sold millions of copies and is was named the, "#1 most influential business book of the twentieth century." This best-seller, written by Steven R. Covey, is a go-to manual for leading a happier, more productive life.
Patty Shoener, Alumni Relations and Stewardship Officer for Penn State Schuylkill led an April 21, CEBA Connects presentation focused on this book. Patty summarized Covey’s seven habits, how to use them to strengthen communication skills and be a more effective leader. "Even though the book was written 25 years ago, Covey's message is relevant today in any stage of your life or career," explained Patty.
During the virtual presentation, she reviewed each habit and provided ways to incorporate them into your life to create balance, become a better leader, and strengthen relationships. "The key to an effective leader is listening," said Patty. She also explained that working together, cooperatively as a team is a win, win and a positive strategy for life.
"Thank you Patty Shoener for sharing your time and expertise with us today," said Susan Williams. "It is always a pleasure working with you and learning something new during your presentations. I am confident those who attended walked away with valuable tips and maybe are even heading to their local library to get a copy of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People."

Business Spotlight: Nature's Way Emporium
|
|
|
"Keep your house clean and your heart clean and from that we can grow as a community," Patty Beltz
|
|
|
|
Nature's Way Emporium is home to unique products from all over the world. And that’s not all. They offer classes, personal consultations, Reiki sessions, get-togethers and so much more.
Patty Beltz is the heart and soul of her small business that is located on Main Street in Shenandoah. It all began 14 years ago at the 924 Flea Market with a six-foot table and just a few products. “I remember cutting the leaves off of a green garland and filling in the empty spaces on my table to make it look fuller,” Patty said. “At that time, I only had a few inexpensive candles, herbs, and crystal rocks." Today, her retail shop is full of quality, original, holistic products, and magical displays that dazzle the eye and enlighten the senses.
Why are rocks and stones a core part of her product line? Patty is a true believer that stones from the earth are more than pretty, they are therapeutic. “Stones have vibrational and magnetic value,” she explained. For example, copper helps with arthritis, and moldavite helps control your emotions."
Patty listens to her customers and helps them find the perfect stone combinations and products specifically for them. Her intention is to teach them something worth learning during their stay. The shop features salt lamps, candles, incense, diffusers, teas, drums, decorative bowls, books, sculptures, and so much more. "Customers will browse around multiple times during a single visit to the shop and see something new each time," she said.
Patty understands that customer service and relationships are the core of her business and develops relationships with everyone who walks through her door. "I greet new customers by saying, "First time here?" Then she asks them how they heard about Nature's Way Emporium.
She credits her amazing online reviews as a large part of her success. "People make the long drive from all over the country because of the things other customers say about our shop," said Patty. "I make it a point to be very attentive to my customers and explain to them about our products. "It's not about the sale," she said. "It's about making them feel comfortable and happy while they are here."
Patty was asked many times to relocate her shop to other towns but she made the decision to stay in Shenandoah. "This is my hometown," she said. "This is my Shenandoah" She is aware that Shenandoah has changed throughout the years, but realizes it takes everyone in a community to work together to make it better. "My grandmother taught me many good things when I was young. One that I live by each day is that you can't be an honorable person if you live in a dirty house. I firmly believe that if we keep our houses clean and our hearts clean, from that, we can grow together as a community."
You can learn more about Nature's Way Emporium by following them on Facebook or visiting the shop located at 28 S. Main Street, Shenandoah, PA. They are open Tuesday through Saturday, 12 noon - 6pm.
