Privacy Booth for Individual Quiet Space

Introducing the Library's Privacy Booth, a personal space in your public library. The soundproof booth creates space for solo work. The booth features a desk, power outlet with the air replaced every 60 seconds; outlet, ideal for an online meeting, class, or family chat.

The Library has two spaces that now can be reserved for private use. They are perfect for studying, meetings, zoom conferences, and working from home-away-from-home.


In addition to the Privacy Booth, the Clark Room is a meeting room for parties of 1-16 people.


Room bookings can be made for up to two hours per booking per day and up to three reservation can be made per person per week.

Library Assistant - Circulation & Youth Services

The Southwest Harbor Public Library seeks a friendly, detail-oriented, and customer service-minded individual for the part-time position of Library Assistant. The Assistant will work directly with our patrons, helping them find information or items they seek, assisting with public computers and technology, checking out/in items, assisting with program planning, promotion, presentation and evaluation for youth, networking with schools and other community agencies concerned with children, presenting programs requested, and most importantly, helping to ensure a positive experience for our users.


If you believe in the positive impact of public libraries, then this position may be for you. High school diploma and computer competency required, college degree or equivalent experience preferred. Prior library, education, or customer service experience preferred. Qualifications and job duties can be found at https://swhplibrary.org/employment/.


We also will need more summer circulation desk support. If you have interest and expect to have some availability for part time work, please apply. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1945, Frances Perkins is widely recognized as a driving force behind the New Deal, most notably for the policies that created Social Security, the forty-hour work week, overtime pay, unemployment insurance, workplace safety standards and a ban on child labor.
