Congratulations to junior Richael Saka who participated in the 2022 National Chinese Speech Contest and qualified for the finals on April 9 and April 10.

We are thankful and blessed to have celebrated Mass with our wonderful grandparents last Friday.

We send a big thank you to all those who made the celebration ceremony directly following Mass last Friday so special for our recent State Champions, Brady McInerney and David McClelland. Alumna Skyla Blumenscheid '21 presented to the SFD Songwriting and Music Production class last week about her experience as a singer and songwriter. Skyla currently studies music at Columbia College in Chicago.

Congratulations to Kevin Sullivan, Tommy Mahle, and Haley Balik, our 2022 recipients of the $500 Guardian Angel Scholarship. This scholarship is sponsored by past Saint Francis DeSales parent Linda Saunders and is given to students who personify hard work and perseverance.

Father Dan Swartz, a Bishop Watterson alumnus from the Class of 2007, spoke to SFD Theology classes last Thursday about his role as a military Chaplain for the United States Marine Corps. We say a special prayer for Father Swartz on his new deployment in Guam.

Final Mothers Club Bake Sale
Our Spring Bake Sale is next week and we need your baked goods! The sale will be held during all lunch periods on Tuesday, April 12th. Popular treats continue to be CAKE POPS, BROWNIES, RICE KRISPIE TREATS, COOKIES, and CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS.
All items will sell for either $.50 or $.25 and we ask that they be individually wrapped and dropped off by you or your student on the cart in the front lobby the morning of the sale. Please use the link below to sign up to donate or work the sale!

Real Talk: Paying for College Edition
On Wednesday, April 20, and Thursday, April 21, Real Talk encourages Black students and their families to connect with colleges and access organizations across the country during their Real Talk: Paying for College Edition event.
During this two-night event, they are bringing together financial aid experts, who'll be sharing information on how students can secure the money they'll need to afford school. If students and their families have questions about the FAFSA® or where to find scholarships, grants, or loans, this is the place to get the answers. RSVP here.

Executive Administrative Assistant
Saint Francis DeSales High School is currently seeking a full time executive administrative assistant. Under the direct supervision of the Principal, this position provides administrative support to the Principal and assists teachers, students, parents, as well as visitors as requested. This individual will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Main Office inclusive of the following essential responsibilities to name a few:
- Managing the Principal's calendar
- Preparing correspondence including communication via email or mailings for the school
- Assists the Principal with various projects as requested

Janitorial and Light Maintenance Associate

SFD Senior Scholarships - Deadline This Friday
Tim Woodward Memorial Scholarship
A $7,000 scholarship is available to a current senior planning to attend The Ohio State University. The applicant must be active in community service or school, be self motivated, have compassion for others, maintain a 3.0 GPA and display financial need. Deadline to submit application is Friday, April 8, 2022. Application Link
Leroy Greffin Scholarship
This $800 scholarship is awarded to a current senior who is pursuing post-secondary education in the field of world and/or US history, political science and/or archeology. Special consideration will be given to students with an interest in teaching or those that have a passion for mentoring and/or tutoring. Deadline to submit application is Friday, April 8, 2022. Nurse's Notes
JUNIOR PARENTS:
*All junior students are required to submit verification of a second dose of the MCV4 (meningococcal) vaccine prior to the start of their senior year. It is a requirement for all incoming seniors in Ohio.
Families can email the verification information to school nurse Kelli Fitzpatrick at fitzpatrick@desales.co, have the pediatrician fax a copy to the school at (614) 265- 3375, or bring in a hard copy.

PLEASE KEEP STUDENTS HOME IF THEY ARE ILL
List of symptoms students will be sent home for:
- Fever > 100F
- New or worsened cough
- Sore throat
- Loss of taste or smell
- Nasal congestion or runny nose
- Headache
- Body aches
- New or worsened fatigue
- Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
Keep your child at home until the following criteria are met (subject to change):

Isolate 5 DAYS from the start of symptoms or a positive test (whichever came first). Can return on DAY 6 if symptom free or symptoms are improved.
MUST wear a mask at all times for DAYS 6-10.
*If you are participating in school sports (including conditioning/lifting) you MUST be cleared by a physician before returning to sports. Return to Play form found here.

Students exposed to COVID-19 in school can continue to attend school (masked).

*Testing is also recommended 5 days post exposure.
