Summer is approaching and to anoint its beginning Loisaida Inc. produces its historical Loisaida Festival.

Saturday, May 28th 2016 - Day before street festival
GUARDIANS OF LOISAIDA

Opening Saturday May 28th 1pm-6pm.

Original black and white artwork and full color art prints created for his best-selling debut comic book Guardians of the Lower East Side from the anthology series Marvel's Guardians of Infinity.

At 2:30pm Miranda will conduct an art talk on the process of comic book making with an emphasis on the artistic intersection of traditional techniques and digital technologies.

EL LOOP FAIR
Connect with Latino Grassroots Innovators.
Saturday May 28th 1pm-6pm.

Through displays, talks and town halls, visitors will discover how localized initiatives integrate into a larger learning community.

Participants will include: Adrian "Viajero" Roman/Facebook Inc., NEEUKO, Cosmica Collective, Toothaphone Instruments, Casa Mucaro, Taza Capitolina, Arts Path to Leadership, Madera Millworks and Loisaida Screenprints.

Avenue C and 11th Street

Parade Route
East on 10 th  Street to Avenue D, south on D to 6 th  Street, west on 6th to Avenue C, right on C, north to 12 th  Street and Festival's Main Stage by 11:30.

The Loisaida Festival traditionally is Kicked-off with a Carnival Procession / Parade 
This year will debut a new beautiful and symbolic contingent created by  Casa Múcaro  and community residents using up-cycled materials found in the neighborhood have created many different characters for the parade.  Braata Productions  and its Caribbean Folk Festival also join in.  Not to be missed!


2016 MAIN STAGE HEADLINERS
Sunday May 29th 2016- 12:00 pm
Avenue C and 12th Street

This year, the Loisaida Festival pays homage to the organization's original Puerto Rican roots.

The Main Stage Lineup will bring together a mix of legendary and rising Puerto Rican stars. These include flamenco dancer  Jeanne D Arc , singer/sonngwritter  Lizbeth Román , hip-hop singer  DayLuv , songstress  Maxine Ashley , locally bred  Lower East Salsa , the legendary  Johnny Colón & his orchestra , and the fun and humorous experience of  Macha Colón y Los Okapi .

Puerto Rican icon and international entertainment phenomenon,  Iris Chacón, will host the festivities alongside Marine-combat-vet-turned actor, singer/activist  J.W.  Cortés (from FOX's "Gotham").

3rd ANNUAL THEATER LAB

Southwest corner of Avenue C and 9th Street

Anchored at La Plaza Cultural Community Garden (Southwest corner of 9th street and Ave C), the Lab offers performances that are inclusive of professional theater companies, amateur players and emerging artists. It provides a change-of-pace for festival goers to sit and enjoy. Perfect for all ages.
