Is traveling to South Africa on your bucket list?

Do you enjoy traveling with a choir, either as a singer or as a friend in the audience?

If so, we encourage you to join us in 2018 when we make a summer music trip to South Africa.

The deadline to sign up is this July 1. For details or to add your name to the list of travelers, contact John Sherer.

This coming Monday is the last day to submit 2017 graduate names!

If you or someone you know is graduating from eighth grade, high school, or a graduate or professional program in 2017, please let Rocky Supinger know about this accomplishment.
 
Graduate names received by this Monday, June 12 will appear in the bulletin on June 18, which is Baccalaureate Sunday, a day when we recognize the accomplishments of these graduates and hold them in our prayers as they embark on the next steps in their journey.

Expressing Support of the LGBTQ Community
You are invited to join a Fourth Church contingent in expressing our support of the LGBTQ community on Sunday, June 25, when we will walk with the Chicago Coalition of Welcoming Churches in the Chicago Pride Parade.

As a partner in the Chicago Coalition of Welcoming Churches, we will be walking with them in the parade on Sunday, June 25 at 12:00 noon.

An Author Event with Carl Greer
How can you tap into inner wisdom to naturally improve health and well-being?

Author, clinical psychologist, shamanic practitioner, and Jungian analyst Carl Greer will explore that question with us this coming Thursday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. in Anderson Hall.

Mr. Greer will be with us to talk about his new book, Change the Story of Your Health: Using Shamanic and Jungian Techniques for Healing. Come learn how to identify your health story and to use journaling and expanded-awareness practices to begin changing it, leading to better health and wellness.

A brief Q&A session will follow the presentation, light refreshments will be served, and books will be available for purchase and signing.

All proceeds from book sales will benefit Chicago Lights and the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being.

An Annual Interfaith Opportunity
Our Interfaith Relations Committee is delighted to be partnering with the Niagara Foundation to again cohost a special Iftar dinner during Ramadan.
 
This year this event will bring individuals from different religious and cultural communities together for a program on self-renewal through service, an opportunity to learn about the significance of the month of Ramadan in Islam, to engage in friendly table conversation, and to break fast with an Iftar dinner. Persons of all faiths are welcome and encouraged to attend.

cookoutJoin Us for a Community Cookout
Lunch at the Urban Farm on June 17
You're invited to a community cookout at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm next Saturday, when we fire up the grill and serve lunch--including fresh ingredients harvested from the Farm--at our annual June cookout! 
 
While you're there, take a tour of the Farm, listen to live music, and stop by our Farmstand. We'll have a variety of greens, herbs, and other fresh veggies available for purchase.
 
The Community Cookout is free and open to the public. All are welcome!
 
We also need volunteers to help at the cookout--especially skilled grillers who can do a shift from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Beginning an Associate Pastor Search
At last Sunday's Congregational Meeting, the congregation of Fourth Church elected the following members to serve on a new Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (APNC): Pam Block (chair), Lynne Driver, Kat Evans, Renee Golas, and Jim Kulich.

This committee is charged with identifying and recommending to the congregation a candidate to serve in ministry with us as Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Small Groups.

Please keep the members of this APNC in your prayers as they begin their important work on our behalf.

to assist with the Chicago Lights Urban Farm Community Cookout Saturday, June 17; shifts begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue through 3:00 p.m.

Liturgists to read scripture
during Sunday 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. services of worship

Greeters and liturgists for the Taizé service on the fourth Friday of the month

Shower Ministry greeters (men) on Tuesdays from 1:15 to 4:00 p.m., on a rotating schedule at the church 
 
Chicago Lights Summer Day classroom assistants and chaperones for field trips. Summer Day runs from June 26 to August 3. For details, contact Fernie Tiflis.
