THE FRIDAY REVIEW

St. Rose School

March 18, 2022

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”

-St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Greetings from Mr. G

Thanks to all parents, grandparents and guardians who attended the Volunteer training session this week. We had a wonderful turnout; I am grateful for your commitment to our school. If you were not able to make these sessions please contact Mrs. Sweeting and when we have a reasonable number of people we will set another date at some point this Spring.

The Saints are wonderful role models and this week we celebrate two who led exemplary lives. St. Patrick's courage and conviction brought the Catholic faith to Ireland and St. Joseph's trust in God's plan is a pivotal part of the Salvation story. The beautiful thing about Catholic education is that we can bring this dimension to our teaching which encourages students to embrace these characteristics and make a positive impact on the world.

The Math teacher in me was very pleased to see the Pi day celebrations. Adding fun to lessons is a sure way to get students engaged and this was the case on Monday when every class spent a slice of their day discussing Pi. We even had a contest to discover the school favorite "pie" sweet vs. pizza -- and the sweet teeth won!

Students and Faculty were treated to a performance by the Immaculate High School cast of Seussical on Tuesday morning. The performances were impressive and it was especially nice to see some alumni. I am also looking forward to St. Rose School's Spring Musical, Godspell! Mr. Cappiello is a musical theater veteran so it promises to be an amazing production. Performance information will be coming soon.

The Ukrainian Art exhibit has garnered a lot of interest in local media with articles in the Danbury News-Times, the Newtown Bee, Voices and Fairfield County Catholic. I am very grateful to Mrs. Ferriter for bringing the exhibit to our school; it is a reminder for us to pray and a connection for our students to children in the Ukraine.

Iowa testing begins next week for students in grades First-7th. Please refer to teacher emails for directions. We continue to walk with Jesus through the Mission Drive, service projects and going to Mass together. If your schedule allows please join us on Fridays at 9:00 a.m. in the church.

Remember that the Knights of Columbus have a delicious take out Fish Fry every Friday in Lent. Enjoy the weekend -- spring is upon us!

God Bless,

Mr. G

PRESCHOOL CORNER

Buddy time was the highlight of Preschool this week. What an awesome program -- pairing older students with younger students in a variety of school activities. This week it was a craft and Bingo for the TK and Fourth grade classes. A great time was had by all. These bonds carry over through the years, giving older students the chance to be role models and younger students a look at what's ahead. This long standing tradition is beloved by all who have walked these halls and often touted as a highlight.

Warmer temps and sunshine have called our littlest learners to more exploration in the great outdoors which they love. Prayers and kindness are always top of mind as well. Oh how they are blooming in mind, heart and soul!
