THIS WEEK AT ST JOHN'S

Dear Friends:

We have a Clergy Team at St John’s! With the permission of our Bishop, I have appointed Allen Box, Pat Johnston, and Christina Guest as Honorary Assistant Priests at St John's. In addition, Karen McBride is with us as a Ministry Intern until after Easter - rounding us up to a team of five people.

This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us and also for St John's. We will share the worship services, as we have been doing, including preaching and presiding at the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. In addition, we look forward to sharing ideas and meeting to reflect and support each other.

There will be more happening here! We are looking forward to conversations exploring more pastoral visits, ideas for midweek services, bible study and learning opportunities - and more ways for you to be involved.

With thanks to God for Allen, Pat, Christina, and Karen!

WHAT'S HAPPENING

JOURNEY TO BAPTISM

You are welcome to explore and grow in your faith through a series of conversations leading up to baptisms to be celebrated at the Easter Vigil - Saturday, March 30, at 7 PM.

You may be interested in this journey for yourself - for baptism of confirmation - or as a companion and friend supporting those who are preparing. You are also welcome to "sit in" to see if this feels right for you.

Our first conversation: Sunday, January 28, immediately following the 10:15 service.

PWRDF ASH WEDNESDAY SOUP SUPPER EVENT Wed. Feb. 14, 2024

PWRDF St. John’s will be holding its annual PWRDF Ash Wednesday Supper on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 5:30 pm. in the Parish Hall. This year Ash Wednesday falls on Valentine’s Day so bring along your partner or a friend and enjoy a variety of delicious soups made by our parishioners. Supper will be followed by a program on PWRDF and a guest speaker.

We welcome contributions of soup and bread or rolls. Please add your name to the sign-up sheet located both on a table at the back of the church and on the bulletin board in the back hallway between the office wing and the Parish Hall. All are welcome; there is no cost. This is a great opportunity to get to know other parishioners, enjoy a tasty soup, and learn more about the important work that The Primate’s World Relief & Development Fund is carrying out.

The Ash Wednesday Soup Supper is PWRDF’s major fundraiser during the year. We welcome your contributions to PWRDF at the event. The Ash Wednesday service will follow in the church at 7:30 p.m.

Contact Jane Maxwell if you would like to help with set-up and take-down or if you have any questions.

GOSPEL OF MARK

READ IT TOGETHER

Reading aloud, it's approximately 60 minutes to get to know the whole Gospel of Mark. We will have some lunch as we listen and get to know the flow of the story as St Mark tells it.

Sunday, February 18, St John's Parish Hall immediately following the 10:15 service.
