April 4, 2022
FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT

Lead with Love.

For we must always know that what we do, and show is what our peers will remember of us later.

Lead from you Heart.

Your love will bring peace to those and comfort to them in need.

Lead with Mercy.

Know that not everyone is like you and that is the truth of this world, and it is truly the beauty of life.

Lead with Truth.

Always strive to be authentic and speak your truth, for you cannot be your real self if you deny others of your real story.

Lead by Healing.

Know that your words and deeds will help others rise and be joyful. For when we bring Love, Heart, Mercy, and Truth to our World we can heal the woes of those that touch our souls.

Luv, Pam

P.S. It has been so long since I have written a poem for Federation and this one, though short and sweet, poured out of my fingertips this morning. Every Sunday morning, I sit down at the computer and write from my heart for the next day’s Quick Bytes…this is what cam from my heart today.

CFWC Health and Wellness Program
Myrna Binford, Chair
April has quite a few National Month events. It is National Autism Month and National Financial Literacy Month. But, congratulate yourselves as it is also National Volunteers Month.
Since it is tax season and the economy is troubled right now, I feel it is a goodtime to have a discussion on financial wellness (physical and mental wellness have been discussed in other articles). For many people finances are at the top of their list. Financial health may have changed over the past two years. Some of your clubs many have members who have financial training and would be willing to discuss the current financial situation. Or, members may know of a financial analyst in the community who would be willing to give a talk. My club has such a member who will be offering a seminar called “Women & Wealth – Money Talk”. While the seminar is free and will be held at the Woman’s Clubhouse, it is open to both club members and the community. Discussion will include – account types, wills, trusts, beneficiaries, taxes and the widow trap as well as social security claiming age. We can all use an update on finances.
Environment - Jane Thomey

April is an especially significant month to show our love and respect for our Planet Earth. The most significant celebration is Earth Day occurring on April 22 during Earth Month. There are many activities planned throughout the country and the world that are designed to promote environmental activism and encourage activities and movements to save our planet.
Not coincidentally, National Park Week, by presidential proclamation, is also celebrated every April, this year from April 16-24. Nine national parks are situated in California, the greatest number of any state in the U.S.  To quote the National Park Service, “We have It all: towering temperate rainforests with the largest arboreal organisms on the planet; the lowest point in North America; a desiccated and scorching desert wasteland; iconic glacier-cut granite valleys and active volcanoes; sandy beach shores and Pacific Islands.”
If you are so inclined, you may visit a park entrance free on April 16. Otherwise, your admission fee will go towards the parks’ maintenance. It may not, however, be possible to visit these parks in person.  We have previously provided virtual tours of some of them in past QuikByte articles. Here is a listing of all nine. Take a moment to consider our state’s treasures and perhaps create memorable virtual tours of your own.
Redwood National Park
Pinnacles National Park
Lassen Volcanic National Park
Channel Islands National Park
Yosemite National Park
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park
Death Valley National Park
Joshua Tree National Park
Point Reyes National Seashore
MARK YOU CALENDARS
APRIL 24TH IS GFWC FEDERATION DAY

Federation Day marks the day in 1890 when 63 clubs came together to form the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in New York City under the leadership of GFWC founder Jane Cunningham Croly. Today, with nearly 80,000 clubwomen and 3,000 clubs, we continue to stand together and celebrate Unity in Diversity.
