fiveTaizé and Labyrinth Walk Friday
Candlelit Meditative Reflection
Join us tomorrow for our monthly service in the style of Taiz é at 7:30 p.m. in Buchanan Chapel.

The Taiz é service provides an opportunity to gather in a contemplative, prayerful setting at the end of a busy week. Candles; easy-to-learn songs from various countries, traditions, and languages; and a period of silence all contribute to a time to reflect and to open oneself to God. We gather for this service on "fourth Fridays at Fourth Church."

As it is each month, the service will be preceded by opportunity to walk the labyrinth in Anderson Hall between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. This meditative walk takes approximately twenty minutes, and members of the labyrinth ministry team are present to offer guidance for first-time labyrinth walkers.

Time:
   Friday, June 22
   Between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m., Labyrinth Walk
   7:30 p.m., Taiz é Service

Place:
   Anderson Hall, Buchanan Chapel

Congrats Shawn Fiedler Begins New Role
Ministerial Associate for Worship
Starting in July, Shawn Fiedler will assume the new role of Ministerial Associate for Worship at Fourth Church. Shawn has been with us in the role of Worship and Adult Education Coordinator since Spring 2017. In this new role, Shawn's energy will be devoted full-time to the worship life of the congregation. By partnering with the Pastor, Shawn will be able to maintain, enhance and deepen our common worship life, bringing intention and energy to this core ministry. According to Shawn,

"Worship is not a benign activity; rather it is the single most important act we engage in as Christians. Fourth Church has a long tradition of excellence and beauty in worship. Our location in the heart of the city of Chicago comes with a commission and charge from God to offer poetic, intellectually challenging, high and holy worship for all. The stakes are high. In this new era of Christian faith, we are faced with the challenge to breathe new life into the Protestant tradition (its customs, texts, visions) and bring people to faith. It's a soul-stirring task."

Shawn is an ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the United Church of Christ--a sibling denomination in the Reformed tradition. Shawn completed his master's in divinity degree at Boston University School of Theology with a special concentration in liturgical studies. Prior to coming to Fourth Church, Shawn served various congregations in Boston, Massachusetts, where he specialized in worship ministry.
