Empowering Women in 2024

Child & Family Center is proud and honored to be recognized as one of the Empowering Women in 2024: 10 Leading SCV Organizations for the work we do with our Domestic Violence Program and Emergency Shelter. In 2024, the Santa Clarita Valley is witnessing a transformative movement towards gender empowerment. Ten organizations are at the forefront, offering resources for education, personal development, and financial support. These organizations break down societal barriers, foster professional growth, and create opportunities for women to thrive. Thank you, WeWil Collaborative and Santa Clarita Magazine and to the nine other incredible organizations working to empower women in our community!

National Stalking Awareness Month

Did you know that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 19 men have been stalked at some point during their lifetime?

January is National Stalking Awareness Month. Along with intimate partner and sexual violence, stalking is a crime that goes chronically underreported, especially since almost three-quarters of all stalking victims know their stalkers in some way, usually as a former or current intimate partner. Child & Family Center’s Domestic Violence Program provides assistance and support to those who are being stalked.

In honor of National Stalking Awareness Month, our fantastic Domestic Violence staff were interviewed by our locak KHTS station. They discussed the different types of stalking, the difference between harassment and stalking, and what to do if you are being stalked. C&FC Youth Prevention Program

Child & Family Center’s Prevention and Outreach team held a kids presentation at Golden Oak Elementary School. The presentation was for multiple classes of 4th – 6th graders. Our team taught students about the importance of developing healthy connections in their community. One of the activities students participate in is called Friendship Soup (shown in the photo) where students identify healthy characteristics a true friend should have. If you want to learn more about what our team does in the community and how to support the kids in your life, follow fn_ction on Instagram
