Legislative Updates
Governor Murphy Delivers the FY2022 Budget Address
On February 23, Governor Phil Murphy delivered the FY2022 Budget Address via a pre-reordered speech, streamed live to the Legislature and the public. Governor Murphy proposed a $44.8 billion budget that, the CCSNJ is happy to report, included no new or increased taxes or fees. Read more>>
On February 17, Governor Phil Murphy, Congressman Donald Norcross, Senate President Sweeney and local and county officials announced $250 million for the redevelopment of the Walter Rand Transportation Center (WRTC). This is the center’s first major renovation since opening in 1989. Read more>>

Congratulations to Christina Renna, CCSNJ's President & CEO, on Being Featured on NJBIZ's 2021 Power 100 & ROI Influencers: 2021 Power List!
The CCSNJ has seen big changes with Renna taking the helm. As the new president, Renna is able to call upon her experience as the chamber’s senior vice president and her time working at the Governor’s Office under Chris Christie. She serves on the advisory board of the Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs at Rutgers University-Camden and on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Burlington County and Greater Trenton-Princeton.



The state-designated Pine Barrens Scenic Byway that meanders through six southern counties has now been designated as a National Scenic Byway, through the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The New Jersey Pinelands Commission is overseeing the administration of the 130-mile byway route, and it prepared the successful application to obtain the National Scenic Byway designation in June 2020.


Gov. Phil Murphy Feb. 23 delivered his fourth annual budget address, outlining a responsible spending proposal for fiscal year 2022 (FY2022) that includes critical investments to help New Jersey emerge from the pandemic stronger, fairer, and more resilient, while making a full pension payment for the first time in more than a quarter of a century, providing the highest level of school funding in history, delivering direct tax rebates to over 760,000 middle-class families, and providing $200 million in relief for small businesses. One of the first pieces of legislation Assemblywoman Carol Murphy was a primary sponsor of was ARJ51, this bill went on to become law and establish every February 14th, “Socks for the Homeless Day”. In honor of “Socks for the Homeless Day”, Assemblywoman Murphy held a month-long drive in partnership with the non-profit the Joy of Sox to collect socks for the homeless in Burlington County.
